Another Day Written Off

I'm starting to think that I should stop having targets, forget the GFA and just enjoy running. I keep on having so many set backs.

Last night I was tired and in bed at 10:30. At 2AM I wake up with a dodgy belly, 2:30 - 3:30 I'm in the bathroom, not a pretty sight. Go back to bed now freezing cold so can't sleep as I am shivering. Up again later to chuck up again (WW chicken tikka is the problem!). Then at 6-7 (lost track of time) I tell hubby I am not going to work. He asks how I feel. I say "still feel sick" at which point I jump out of bed and run to the bathroom again!

So I am drained. Not eaten for almost 24hrs. Sat here drinking Lucozade (need some energy). Feel like something is stuck in my throat (from 1st chucking up but obviously not blocked as I have chucked up twice since!!) sorry is this too much info??

Needless to say I am not running today, and probably will stay at home and not run tomorrow either!

It's good to have targets. If you think SMART (sorry if you've been bored by this before), it will help you to set good targets.

Specific - GFA
Measurable - yes
Achievable - up to you
Relevant - yes to your running
Timely - when are you going to do it?

GFA doesn't have to be 2006/7/8. It could be on one of those x0 birthday years.

Don't give up, just re-assess where you are.

All that up-chucking sounds nasty. Bleurgh.

Kim, GFA is a fantastic target to aim for so don't give up (you are not known as a quitter...). Winter is a traditional time for getting ill and your body screwing up your training plans. Rest and get well!

get well soon, and *don't* even think about driving down for the frolic unless you're 100% better :o)

Remember this?

Yes I'm back on the bench :-( That sore foot thing on Wednesday... well it's still here. In typical bruised fashion it hurts more after a period of sitting down/sleep and I've been popping the brufen. There is a slight swelling too. Don't think it is laces ... on closer inspection the pain is (looks at google ... gives up and picks up "how to run injury free" instead) on the sesamoids area of the err middle phalanger (??? impressed hey!) In the same location where you would get morton's neuroma but the description is wrong so I don't think it's that!! (oh the perils of a little knowledge from a book or the web hey!) Anyways this means I'm on the bench. No running. I have 4 or 5 weeks until the Suicide Sixish so no panic, I will take 1 whole week off regardless and see what happens next weekend. Also think I will get some new shoes with more cushioning. Now all I need to do is locate my bike and/or exercise bike from the depths of the garage un...

Sensible Head

The choice was getting wet or getting wet. I opted for the wet but warm option rather than the wet, cold and wind swept option! So 1m done at the pool including 2 goals being achieved and some board work. I said a while ago I wanted to be able to do 20 lengths non stop DONE and 10 lengths of front crawl non stop DONE!! So happy pixie. Used a different pool today as I wanted to see about lessons for Gnome. It was a nightmare to locate the car park and once I found it, it was full to the brim with cars circling for spaces so I drove the 200m down the road to the free parking and nabbed the last space there instead! The pool is old so not pretty or ponced up but it is clean and in good repair and they do Saturday lessons and Gnome can start this week! OK so he then has 2 weeks off but how good is that! My other option was the pool near work and a possible start mid February! So just need to get the OK from Gnome and a commitment to get out of bed for a 9:30 lesson every week until March (...

An Update

Just for bear!! he-he I was very tempted just to say that but I shant!! If, like bear, you wondered where I am these days ... well mainly on Fetch and RealBuzz as I can get to both of those places during work. Unlike the old days, when I was at college and the old work place, I can't chat all day and I don't tend to go online much at home. Anyway that promised update. Good News: I won a 32" LCD TV!! I'm running 6 times a week! I'm using not wearing my HRM. I'm averaging 20m+ a week now!! Bad News: Despite lots of running I'm still err lardy because I'm comfort eating constantly. My phone is by my side 24/7 and I am expecting a call any time, to be honest I am amazed grandma is still with us, so yes I'm expecting the call, dreading the call and stuffing my face. Good job I am running lots then really! I'm worried it will become a habit though so I am trying to adjust the eating, I'm trying to bring in lots of fruit and eat that, or low fat ...
