Add Swimming To The List!!

Of activities when I have had for no reason a nose bleed!!

10 mins into yesterday's swim. I stop for a drink and as I prepare to start again I look down and see a splodge appear on my cossie! So I climb out get some tissue from the life guard and despite my better judgement confirmed that the nose bleed just happened and that it wasn't because someone bashed me! Kids everywhere on floats/rafts and giant inflatable rings making lengths difficult. Roll on 6 when the lanes would appear!!

Being a serious aflete and all that once my nose stopped I carried on! 66 lengths in total bring my Nessie Challenge total to 210!

As always I had the mental battle of "Oh you are weaker now you've had that bleed why not stop!" Followed by "Lying sod you're fine shut up and carry on!". So carry on I did.

Last night despite being the hottest day this year I was cold ... not sure if this is related in anyway but I'm fine today!.

Today I will be using my running kit! Not so much because I want to run fast now but because I want to get back into running.

Swimming is great for CV fitness and I am enjoying it now. It also is great for cross training and if I did consider a tri then I need to swim!! The swimming fitness will help both running and the TW too. Also because I am swimming longer I am getting the endurance in too, you know the "stop!" "No carry on!" thing!!

My aim is to get the legs used to pottering again maybe 2-3 times a week, perhaps with the odd double with swimming. Then after TW to train for running. Still swimming as mentioned above butu increase runs to 3 then 4 sessions.

Will see what Spans says!!!

Remember this?

Yes I'm back on the bench :-( That sore foot thing on Wednesday... well it's still here. In typical bruised fashion it hurts more after a period of sitting down/sleep and I've been popping the brufen. There is a slight swelling too. Don't think it is laces ... on closer inspection the pain is (looks at google ... gives up and picks up "how to run injury free" instead) on the sesamoids area of the err middle phalanger (??? impressed hey!) In the same location where you would get morton's neuroma but the description is wrong so I don't think it's that!! (oh the perils of a little knowledge from a book or the web hey!) Anyways this means I'm on the bench. No running. I have 4 or 5 weeks until the Suicide Sixish so no panic, I will take 1 whole week off regardless and see what happens next weekend. Also think I will get some new shoes with more cushioning. Now all I need to do is locate my bike and/or exercise bike from the depths of the garage un...

Sensible Head

The choice was getting wet or getting wet. I opted for the wet but warm option rather than the wet, cold and wind swept option! So 1m done at the pool including 2 goals being achieved and some board work. I said a while ago I wanted to be able to do 20 lengths non stop DONE and 10 lengths of front crawl non stop DONE!! So happy pixie. Used a different pool today as I wanted to see about lessons for Gnome. It was a nightmare to locate the car park and once I found it, it was full to the brim with cars circling for spaces so I drove the 200m down the road to the free parking and nabbed the last space there instead! The pool is old so not pretty or ponced up but it is clean and in good repair and they do Saturday lessons and Gnome can start this week! OK so he then has 2 weeks off but how good is that! My other option was the pool near work and a possible start mid February! So just need to get the OK from Gnome and a commitment to get out of bed for a 9:30 lesson every week until March (...

An Update

Just for bear!! he-he I was very tempted just to say that but I shant!! If, like bear, you wondered where I am these days ... well mainly on Fetch and RealBuzz as I can get to both of those places during work. Unlike the old days, when I was at college and the old work place, I can't chat all day and I don't tend to go online much at home. Anyway that promised update. Good News: I won a 32" LCD TV!! I'm running 6 times a week! I'm using not wearing my HRM. I'm averaging 20m+ a week now!! Bad News: Despite lots of running I'm still err lardy because I'm comfort eating constantly. My phone is by my side 24/7 and I am expecting a call any time, to be honest I am amazed grandma is still with us, so yes I'm expecting the call, dreading the call and stuffing my face. Good job I am running lots then really! I'm worried it will become a habit though so I am trying to adjust the eating, I'm trying to bring in lots of fruit and eat that, or low fat ...
