The Way Ahead

Well hmm what can I say!
Ok lets try this ...

Fitness - overall levels good but as always could be better!
Weight - huh not going anywhere :-(
Health - yep all fine and dandy!

So I am forming a plan.

Over the years I have come to realise I love food, eat for comfort and emotional reasons and to date have not found the cure to allow me to eat less and lose weight.

I have plenty of running goals ... faster times etc.

So why not try and combine them all. They say that the more you train the more you want to eat healthy so ....

I may not be good at controlling the number of calories I take in but I can control those being used. I'm going to up my training.

This means I get fitter and healthier and even if I don't drop into the healthy eating eat for fuel thing it's not bad. As nurse said I am healthy!

As a connected issue I still have no idea about this club Tri ... not sure if "springs" is Champney Springs and there is no time just cost! So I'm going to climb onto the Bollox To It train!

Then take a HUGE gulp.

Check my bank account.

Wibble ..... and if I have £28 by the end of the month I am entering the Concorde Tri!

I'm at my mum's that weekend anyway so no extra jounrney.

Gives me a goal to aim for and time to train properly.

I have to swim, bike and run so extra training and mixed training with new muscles being used etc.

This plan means at least 6 sessions a week (2 for each) so that's an increase in training.

Who knows it may also be the kick I need for weight lose and improve my running. I think it is VERY VERY unlikely that it will make a pirate of me mind!!

Whatever works Pix - if the variety gets you more motivated to train, then great.

If you enjoy the club tri, find the £28 and do Concorde - can't be that strapped for cash surely?

Don't know if you're into buying books about training, pix, but 'The Complete Guide to Endurance Training' by Jon Ackland published by A&C Black is superb. It covers all the main endurance sports, covers theories about training, gives sample programmes for beginners up to elite, shows how to do your own, has advice on fuelling etc etc. Get someone to buy it for you as a pressie (or get cheap copy on Amazon).

Remember this?

Yes I'm back on the bench :-( That sore foot thing on Wednesday... well it's still here. In typical bruised fashion it hurts more after a period of sitting down/sleep and I've been popping the brufen. There is a slight swelling too. Don't think it is laces ... on closer inspection the pain is (looks at google ... gives up and picks up "how to run injury free" instead) on the sesamoids area of the err middle phalanger (??? impressed hey!) In the same location where you would get morton's neuroma but the description is wrong so I don't think it's that!! (oh the perils of a little knowledge from a book or the web hey!) Anyways this means I'm on the bench. No running. I have 4 or 5 weeks until the Suicide Sixish so no panic, I will take 1 whole week off regardless and see what happens next weekend. Also think I will get some new shoes with more cushioning. Now all I need to do is locate my bike and/or exercise bike from the depths of the garage un...

Sensible Head

The choice was getting wet or getting wet. I opted for the wet but warm option rather than the wet, cold and wind swept option! So 1m done at the pool including 2 goals being achieved and some board work. I said a while ago I wanted to be able to do 20 lengths non stop DONE and 10 lengths of front crawl non stop DONE!! So happy pixie. Used a different pool today as I wanted to see about lessons for Gnome. It was a nightmare to locate the car park and once I found it, it was full to the brim with cars circling for spaces so I drove the 200m down the road to the free parking and nabbed the last space there instead! The pool is old so not pretty or ponced up but it is clean and in good repair and they do Saturday lessons and Gnome can start this week! OK so he then has 2 weeks off but how good is that! My other option was the pool near work and a possible start mid February! So just need to get the OK from Gnome and a commitment to get out of bed for a 9:30 lesson every week until March (...

An Update

Just for bear!! he-he I was very tempted just to say that but I shant!! If, like bear, you wondered where I am these days ... well mainly on Fetch and RealBuzz as I can get to both of those places during work. Unlike the old days, when I was at college and the old work place, I can't chat all day and I don't tend to go online much at home. Anyway that promised update. Good News: I won a 32" LCD TV!! I'm running 6 times a week! I'm using not wearing my HRM. I'm averaging 20m+ a week now!! Bad News: Despite lots of running I'm still err lardy because I'm comfort eating constantly. My phone is by my side 24/7 and I am expecting a call any time, to be honest I am amazed grandma is still with us, so yes I'm expecting the call, dreading the call and stuffing my face. Good job I am running lots then really! I'm worried it will become a habit though so I am trying to adjust the eating, I'm trying to bring in lots of fruit and eat that, or low fat ...
