- ENT appointment next Monday and they won't mind if Gnome comes with me!
- I can walk! No stiffness to speak of so the post run bath massage has done it's trick. I did also give my calves a quick massage this morning too to be on the safe side!
- Blister isn't hurting (thanks compeed!)
- Chaffing isn't bad (thanks sudacreme)
- Knees aren't aching (thanks zipvit! I use their glucosamine and emu oil gel)
Yes I'm back on the bench :-( That sore foot thing on Wednesday... well it's still here. In typical bruised fashion it hurts more after a period of sitting down/sleep and I've been popping the brufen. There is a slight swelling too. Don't think it is laces ... on closer inspection the pain is (looks at google ... gives up and picks up "how to run injury free" instead) on the sesamoids area of the err middle phalanger (??? impressed hey!) In the same location where you would get morton's neuroma but the description is wrong so I don't think it's that!! (oh the perils of a little knowledge from a book or the web hey!) Anyways this means I'm on the bench. No running. I have 4 or 5 weeks until the Suicide Sixish so no panic, I will take 1 whole week off regardless and see what happens next weekend. Also think I will get some new shoes with more cushioning. Now all I need to do is locate my bike and/or exercise bike from the depths of the garage un...

Just wondering whether you might think about the fuelling strategy... and maybe that's why you felt sluggish on the Sunday morning. I can't run first thing... I'm an evening runner I think - morning runs knacker me for the rest of the day. Warming up the legs though... good pix!
:o)
I never used to eat before a long run in the morning but as the duration has increased post injury I now find that my legs just don't want to play ball. Now this weekend I tried the "warm up" which prevented the OUCH factor in those first couple of miles.
I'e never thought of fueling up for a long run only really done that for the likes of FLM and TW but again it makes sense!
As for water, I need it! Yes it may be a security blanket but I get very clammy in the mouth and if I am working hard a quick splash of water controlls my breathing almost! Also if I do have a nose bleed - blood tastes disgusting!
Ideally I run during the day but there are times when it has to be an early morning. Not fond of it but it has to be done!
I know I will be using that massage thing again!
