It's Christmas!!!!!

Lo folks!
Just thought I would pop in briefly to say

Happy Christmas!!!!
and a FAB 2006!

Currently (pun intended!) Gnome is playing with Hot Wires and loving it! It's his "best present ever!"

I'm playing Sudoku on my new handheld game and hubby is (shock horror!) watching the racing on TV!

I've still not run since the Frolic. Monday I had my nose zapped and that knocked me for a few days and then Christmas got in the way! Christmas Eve I was thinking "wanna run" and Christmas Day Evening (if that makes sense!) I was dripping blood in the bathroom for the best part of 30 mins. Worse nose bleed in literally months. I was even starting to think a trip to A&E may be called for. I wasn't happy and had a headache after that. Then during the night I got cramp in my calf so today I ain't running either ... grrrrrr.

Still it's almost 2006 and then the pants year will be over!

Enjoy your pressies folks!!

I always say "New Year, New Start, blah blah blah" But I have to be honest... I think this year (2005) although it's been pretty shite... it's not been as bad as it could have been (in comparison to previous years). So having said that... although I'm really happy right now and where I want to be in life... it does make me look forward with trepidation and kind of a little edge of nervousness. I s'pose you have to get used to stuff *not* happening to get used to life being ordinary. So for me... I'm just hoping for an ordinary 2006. That's all. Don't want no bells and whistles. Just a plain old boring year for me will do. No illness, no injury, no ups and downs.

:o)

well I now have a stinking cold!
I did this time last year too - I missed Helsby because of it, but that was a really bad bad cough too.

So folks here's to a healthy, injury free 2006!

and then the was three!

Well before now I've had arguments between Pixie and Trixie and today Logic joined in! Pixie siad run yes but not too long cos you ran yesterday and have hardly run in 2 weeks! Trixie said but but but need to do a long run, long runs are good! Logic said runs are good and tomorrow you give blood so won't run and Tuesday you have post blood rest day and a massage! Trixie and Logic then argued it out. Trixie won! Logic then spent the whole run saying, slow down, breath, it's too hot, see now you're paying! Trixie struggled on with the "hey I'm running!" smile on her face until she hit yet another hill when smile vanished and was replaced with serious "I will not give in" face! So that's it then! 6.7m of sllllloooooowww hard work! Will post stats later but they aren't that pretty! But as Leon said - we run because we enjoy it! Today was more of a "I WANT to do a long run" run than a need to do a long run run! Next week I will repea...

Stoppy Sulking Pixie

Ok so if you remember (assuming you were listening!) yesterday I mentioned that today would be swimming! Fraggle had given me some advice on how to improve my front crawl so off I went full of enthusiasm ready to master front crawl! 40 mins later I sulked out of the pool annoyed and frustrating and failing to master the front crawl! See like a lot of casual swimmers I "thrash about making a lot of splashes!" when doing crawl and this means my HR sores and I die at the end of 1 length needing 3-4mins recovering at the side of the pool before I attempt to swim another length in any stroke! Fraggle pointed out that if I place my head in the water properly (like look at the bottom of the pool rather than half under) then slow down, breathe out when in the water the breath in as your head leaves the water (I know what I mean even if you don't!) then it will be easier! Sounded good and practice breathing in the house went well!! I get in the pool - this is it. I can do this! Oh...

Smiley Happy Pixie!

I've been for a run!!! Yep it's true! Well back was fine after driving and doing the shopping ysterday as well as mowing the lawn. I watched the GNR and was jealous I wasn't running so ... I did 40mins of solid running .... longest solid run since Feb! Back fine - only niggle is shoulder from the ouch this morning when I was taking my tablets! No idea why! Felt really good and pace was much better than I expected .... not run for 10 days now! So 3.424m in 40:17 av pace 11:44mm (11.39,11.57,11.39,11.51) very happy! Really enjoyed it and really pleased! So back to training next week (and work). Tomorrow will be 50mins of walk run with a long run in the middle. Wednesday speedwork on the tready and Friday 40mins solid on the tready as hubby has to go to work early. Leaving a long run at the weekend. Fingers crossed!
