and then the was three!

Well before now I've had arguments between Pixie and Trixie and today Logic joined in!

Pixie siad run yes but not too long cos you ran yesterday and have hardly run in 2 weeks!
Trixie said but but but need to do a long run, long runs are good!
Logic said runs are good and tomorrow you give blood so won't run and Tuesday you have post blood rest day and a massage!

Trixie and Logic then argued it out.

Trixie won! Logic then spent the whole run saying, slow down, breath, it's too hot, see now you're paying! Trixie struggled on with the "hey I'm running!" smile on her face until she hit yet another hill when smile vanished and was replaced with serious "I will not give in" face!

So that's it then! 6.7m of sllllloooooowww hard work! Will post stats later but they aren't that pretty! But as Leon said - we run because we enjoy it! Today was more of a "I WANT to do a long run" run than a need to do a long run run!

Next week I will repeat the week I've been trying to do for 3 weeks no! Which leaves 2 more weeks before holiday and 2 weeks left of my current plan! I suspect that when I get home from holiday things may start getting harder - hey Spans!!

UPDATE - 10pm

(Swallows deeply and takes deep breath)

I don't want to race.

(Sorry Benz!)

In November I am supposed to be doing the Suicide Sixish which is a fab race! Muddy, wet, slippery, and undulating with a stream to waddle through and 120 steps to climb to the finish. I did this last year and loved it.

But the closer it gets the less I want to do it - I haven't even entered yet. See if I do this then I will miss a long run and potential mess up my training with possible injury which is much more likely doing this course than a long run at home! Thing is I've already not entered about 3-4 races so far this year (well since FLM) because I want to train, and I am not doing GRIM because it is too expensive, too far away and there's the training!

It seems my brain is slowly noticing the improvements that I have made by following the Spans Plan and is now saying

STOP!! Don't waste time doing races which cost time, money and training when you won't win or be placed. You have a GFA to get in 2007 and 2 tough (for me) half marathon targets to get in the next 15mths (2:30 BM 2006 and sub 1:45 BM 2007) why waste valuable time that could be spent training on races?

Suddenly I'm more focus on my long term targets with 2 side projects.

Targets:
2:30 at BM 2006
2:15-2:30 at RHM 2006
sub 1:45 BM 2007
sub 3:45 Lochaber 2007

Projects:
Trailwalker 2006
which is only bout 80% to be honest now ... I really want to slay this dragoon but I want that GFA.

Beginners Running/WRN
I feel passionate about people learning to love running and wanting to run but this also has to fit in with my training and my GFA.

I think that this Pixie needs some thinking time - if anyone wants to help the thought process then please either comment or mail me!

Personally, I would have listened to logic. Really.

Hm doesn't matter what the stats said either - you did it which is what matters and personally, after a back injury and a cold. I think you is mad my dear.

mad? me! nah and if I is I get it off you!! (and you want to spend 30hrs walking across the SDW with me!! After that I expect you will confirm how mad I am!)

ever so tired now though!
Feel like I used to about 2yrs ago doing 3-4m and being exhausted! Legs just wanna go to sleep!
In fact I probably will!
Pleased I did it though yes - specially as I won't for 2 days with blood and massage!

Dunno what BM is, but surely you mean BHM? (as in half-mara rather than marathon?)

Sometimes I think logic is right - I want to go out and run the Cabbage Patch in a few weeks, but I'd be nuts to do it and might get badly injured
Evil Pixie said…
BM = Brass Monkey! so yes suppose it should read BMHM if you want to be totally accurate!
Evil Pixie said…
Oh and today isn't 3/10 so no blood today that's for next week!
XFR Bear said…
Ah ok - see what you mean now - thought it was another mara!!
Evil Pixie said…
no! My name isn't Benz!! I ain't stupid you know!

Sensible Head

The choice was getting wet or getting wet. I opted for the wet but warm option rather than the wet, cold and wind swept option! So 1m done at the pool including 2 goals being achieved and some board work. I said a while ago I wanted to be able to do 20 lengths non stop DONE and 10 lengths of front crawl non stop DONE!! So happy pixie. Used a different pool today as I wanted to see about lessons for Gnome. It was a nightmare to locate the car park and once I found it, it was full to the brim with cars circling for spaces so I drove the 200m down the road to the free parking and nabbed the last space there instead! The pool is old so not pretty or ponced up but it is clean and in good repair and they do Saturday lessons and Gnome can start this week! OK so he then has 2 weeks off but how good is that! My other option was the pool near work and a possible start mid February! So just need to get the OK from Gnome and a commitment to get out of bed for a 9:30 lesson every week until March (...

Remember this?

Yes I'm back on the bench :-( That sore foot thing on Wednesday... well it's still here. In typical bruised fashion it hurts more after a period of sitting down/sleep and I've been popping the brufen. There is a slight swelling too. Don't think it is laces ... on closer inspection the pain is (looks at google ... gives up and picks up "how to run injury free" instead) on the sesamoids area of the err middle phalanger (??? impressed hey!) In the same location where you would get morton's neuroma but the description is wrong so I don't think it's that!! (oh the perils of a little knowledge from a book or the web hey!) Anyways this means I'm on the bench. No running. I have 4 or 5 weeks until the Suicide Sixish so no panic, I will take 1 whole week off regardless and see what happens next weekend. Also think I will get some new shoes with more cushioning. Now all I need to do is locate my bike and/or exercise bike from the depths of the garage un...

Ten Week Training Block

Monday is the start of a new 10 week training block. Well Ok it's the start of my second round of The Six Pack Revolution this time I am doing the sculpt program. I did Signature in May and did really well. Lost 21lbs and rediscovered my love of running lots (rather than just running!) which has meant that I have had a great, extended, training block for my race next weekend. Problem was that at the end of the 10 weeks I slowly but surely reverted to a lot of my old habits and as such have regained 4-5lbs. Luckily my running has kept it to just 4-5lbs - I know if I hadn't been doing so many miles then it would have been more. So next week I start again, and I am trying a different mindset. Instead of seeing it as a 10 week program I am thinking of it as a 10 week training block. The say Winter miles make for Summer smiles but also the winter is a time for more indoor training! When most runners hide away a bit but do more of the stuff we should do all year as we then have an ex...
