The title of my blog relates to the power of dreams and their magic. After all what is the point of having dreams if you aren't going to make them come true.
I don't know if I can run in 3:45 (that's a constant 8:30mm pace) but unless I train and put my heart into it and try I will never know. I guess that's what this is all about.
I think I can do it and want to the chance to see if it is true if I really can do it so all I need to do now is put my mind to it and train.
It's time to be sensible and serious which is why I have decided against the Suicide Sixish. I have a lot of work to do and I've missed weeks with colds, back problems and tiredness and have a week in EuroDisney next month so why waste another weekend.
So training it is. Training for both body and mind. I need to start focusing on the task in hand. I need to lose weight (down to 11st 1 now but still fat!) and I need to cross train .... improve my core strength and tone. It can only make the running easier.
I have a long time to do this in and I don't want to waste any time! I just hope I miss the rocks and storms ahead and keep on course!!

Only thing is, I don't want a bandwagon thing. How do you think we can do this and be encouraging and supportive for it..?
Training is only one part of the story
Nutrition is another (but I’m not going to talk about that here)
The other, as you touched upon, is the power of the mind ….
You need to look forward with a positive mind embracing that you wish to achieve. Look upon the decision to not the suicide 6 as a positive one and start exercising the power if your mind to help reach your goals.
Set Goals – you have long term goals but ensure you set lesser goals as stepping stones up to your main goal – make them achievable (but not too easy)
Practice the art of imagining yourself achieving your dreams, if you cannot see success in your minds eye it is less likely that you will see it in reality.
Try to be confident in yourself, success comes from confidence as much as confidence from success, get the circle of achievement up and running HAVE CONFIDENCE IN YOURSELF
Practice the are of controlling your own thoughts, discipline in thought control will help you move forward … for example Treadmill and Exercise bike sessions can be mind numbingly boring and cause you to cut the session short … use mind control to ensure you cut out the boredom that holds you back and instead focus upon the task at hand
And finally (for now) be positive about injury … a lot of injuries occur cos we look for them … stay positive stay fit … stay healty
:o)
a superb post will
now where can i buy self confidence
I'm with you all the way
xx
Caff - I'll kick your butt if you kick mine!
Benz - you don't buy confidence. You already have a lot to put your body through the number of marathons and ultras you do when most of us wouldn't even get to the start. You just need to acknowledge it and enhance it.
Beanz - thanks for the support. We're close enough to do the occassional training run so don't think you can get off lightly!
and finally
Will! You speak wise words! Thank you for the time you put in to share those thoughts ... I'd love to know more about mind training. Do you know of any good books? I'm currently reading my Anita Bean books (slowly as thy aren't light reading really!) and I am trying to use her principles with the weight.
You've all just showen why I like blogs ... the human element and support, the way that a few words can reach out and touch you. Thank you for your support - I hope you stick arround as I love knowing your there!
