Research to be done ...

Well I decided to recruit the folks on the RW forums for some help and ideas about the beginners course/group at club. Well it's kinda evolved and I ended up talking to Shades and sending a mail to the folks at the Womens Running Network.

I'm going to seriously look at starting my own group. It would give me some training either through them on a UKA approved course or indeed a UKA course. It would also give me something positive to do and allow me to get to know more people were I am too whilst helping and encouraging others to take up the sport we love.

I remember so clearly the time I finished my 1st 5K. It was also a race and although it was in my villiage I knew no-one. When I finished I was so happy and proud that I called my mum! She thought I was about to collapse as I could barely talk! Then when I finished my 2nd race (the Flora Light in London) I was soooo happy and hyped up I immediately declared a love of running and the intention of running the Reading Half Marathon.

But there is a lot to think about. There's hubby's hours, Gnome, the time, commitment, accounts (you count as being self employeed) as well as things like a location and advertising etc.

So watch this space! It could fit in with my training as it would be an extra but easy run. In fact if it was on a Monday then it could be a recovery run from my weekend long run!!

Haven't run today (yet - hope to later) as my belly is a bit dodgy due to adding too much spice to my cous cous at lunch!! hehe! We'll see what happens!

Oh oh Oh and I have a new gadget - a yoghurt maker!! It's made by Easiyo and the wonderful folks on the RW forums persauded me to get it claiming it to be easy, cheap and delicious! Seeing as we use loads of yoghurts (I spend £8-10 a week!) it seemed to make sense! I will be testing it tonight!

Anyway that's all for now folks!

it would be great to see it work - lots of planning
I mean for starters I would need to locate a child minder/sitter for nights when hubby isn't about!

Oh and no run tonight ... got involved with yoghurt maker and cooking chick peas and looking up stuff for this!

good on you Pixie. You will find there rae many out tehre that would love to get involved more in a meet and train but afraid that they just do not meet the bar/not fit enough etc. This is a great idea as people can start from scratch and note their improvments. Some kind of diary for them to note what they did to show improvement might be good??

the very best of luck with it, quite abit of work involved but it will be so worth it. good on ya.

Pix, I shall be sending you stuff on beginners' runnning, don't fret! I'll also do you a general blurb on how we 'manage' our Monday 'snails', oops, 'Beginners and Intermediates'.

Afraid me and my fellow snail-minder aren't very impressed at your club's attitude to newbies/potential runners :-(

Might take a short while, especially as I'm off on a Fitness Weekender tomorrow but you WILL get somat!

"running club not a coaching club"

But these people are the future of the club! At our club one of our previous 'snails' just knocked 8 mins off her half marathon pb to do 1.56 at New Forest!!! Another girl who came along on a Monday, not really having run before, ended up doing her first marathon in about 3.40, lucky we didn't turn her away! Yet another Monday girl (and yes they are mostly women, who like the company and safety of running in a group) did FLM this year in 6+ hours from scratch. Turns out afterwards she was 6 weeks pregnant too.

Grrrrrrrrrrr

[Deep breath, smiles sweetly]

I shall send you stuff!

womble those are exactly my sentiments!
Very blind of the club me finks
anyway lots of planning and thinking to do
I do want to do this but I also want my GFA! So the two have to work together ,,, if I have to delay this then I will but it will happen.
I know that WRN do a course but the next one is when I am on hols and after that it's Jan in Exeter and I am not going that far! So I have lots of time to plan and also to do some documents for beginners which I may stick on here for now

The Next Three Weeks

So I have a few busy weeks ahead that may, or may not, affect what happens here. So this weekend I am running the Chester metric marathon - should do about 3:30 and get a PB by around 30 mins if things go to plan. Next week I am on holiday and have the in-laws visiting which will be nice. Then after then I have 2 weeks of jury service in Derby. I really want to get a case as I am really interested in knowing what actually happens and what it's like in court. But knowing my luck I will have 2 weeks of waiting for nothing. I have Ami's zoom calls to review and take notes on, books to read, coloring/drawing to try my hand at and Loki to watch! After that the exciting news is my part time request has gone through so from 4th December I will be part time. Very exciting. Then hopefully I can start a potential path to being a swimming teacher. Fun days ahead

What Are You??

Apparently I am a geek after spending some time chatting to a first line support person and comparing degrees!! I am also apparently an executive as I earn more than a certain sum of money! This I must point out is executive in the eyes of a Midlands person and not a southern!! I think I am a runner and a mother because I run and have a son! I don't think I have a career and would struggle to define what I really do! Talking of which I may change the address for this site to blog.html or similar because if I do go job hunting I am not sure if my made ramblings should be front page news!! hehe!! I currently work in IT doing support with a hint of customer service at second line. I run and I'm trying to learn to draw! So what or who are you!?!
