Baby Bricks

Last night I dashed from work to Sainsbury and home again. I then realised I didn't have enough time to make and eat my tea before I had to collect Gnome from Boys Brigade!! Whoops! Hmmm but I did have time to change and jump on my bike!! (OK so I'm scared of Gumps!)

I set off round the village and finished in the car park (total of 5.3m)! Oh such a glamorous place! Well it did allow me to park my bike on a curb and the proceed to trot round the car park 3 time before grabbing my bike and running with it to collect Gnome.

So that's that, another mini brick! Running for a massive 6 mins this time!!

Tonight hubby is watching Brazil so I will be out on my bike and then doing a proper run! Plan is about 8m bike then 2-3m run! Gulp! Will report back later!

Brickette Report!

OMG!! That was weird!!

OK lets start with the bike ... longest ride since FLM training pixie style last year. It was only 8m but hilly and also partially off road. Getting much more confident on changing gears and pace. I even hit 27mph going downhill whilst thinking "Help! I will go over the bars in a minute!". Please note I have a normal bike with the thick wheels and straight handle bars. Not a mountain bike but a hybrid thing! Last year I was panicking at 22-23mph so I am impressed I wasn't hitting the brakes! Hills going up however are anywhere between 5 and 9mph! Legs hurt, breathing is hard and it's a struggle!

I remembered one of the pirates saying about spinning as you finish your ride, stretch the legs etc ready for the run so did just that! Bit hard when you live up hill but I did my best!

I got off the bike a few yards before the house then ran to the garage. Dumped the bike, hat and gloves off then back out for a run!

Spans said do deliberately small steps so I did. It felt awful! My legs felt alien. I was sure I was crawling. I wanted to stop and walk home but I carried on. Somehow I did that 1st mile in under 12mins! I was shocked! I was only doing a baby loop (1.35m or 16mins in total) as it was darker than I expected but that still gave me 1hr of training and the longest brick session to date!

I guess I can now officially say I am a Pixie in Tri Training! Concorde here I come!

i did have fun actually Bear! Splashed through lots of puddles, got covered in mud and found I could speed downhill without flying over the handle bars!
Was nice knowing I would be in the bath soon .. not got there yet mind!!

Frags - I think you may have a Pixie to cheer on!

[ignores AH's remarks]
Adele a brick is when you cycle then run straight away like in a race! It's designed to get the legs used to the change over.

AH yes small steps have been mentioned but in a totally different concept!

frags ... I agree it is funny! Just glad it was dusk as I looked a right state!

Ten Week Training Block

Monday is the start of a new 10 week training block. Well Ok it's the start of my second round of The Six Pack Revolution this time I am doing the sculpt program. I did Signature in May and did really well. Lost 21lbs and rediscovered my love of running lots (rather than just running!) which has meant that I have had a great, extended, training block for my race next weekend. Problem was that at the end of the 10 weeks I slowly but surely reverted to a lot of my old habits and as such have regained 4-5lbs. Luckily my running has kept it to just 4-5lbs - I know if I hadn't been doing so many miles then it would have been more. So next week I start again, and I am trying a different mindset. Instead of seeing it as a 10 week program I am thinking of it as a 10 week training block. The say Winter miles make for Summer smiles but also the winter is a time for more indoor training! When most runners hide away a bit but do more of the stuff we should do all year as we then have an ex...

Sensible Head

The choice was getting wet or getting wet. I opted for the wet but warm option rather than the wet, cold and wind swept option! So 1m done at the pool including 2 goals being achieved and some board work. I said a while ago I wanted to be able to do 20 lengths non stop DONE and 10 lengths of front crawl non stop DONE!! So happy pixie. Used a different pool today as I wanted to see about lessons for Gnome. It was a nightmare to locate the car park and once I found it, it was full to the brim with cars circling for spaces so I drove the 200m down the road to the free parking and nabbed the last space there instead! The pool is old so not pretty or ponced up but it is clean and in good repair and they do Saturday lessons and Gnome can start this week! OK so he then has 2 weeks off but how good is that! My other option was the pool near work and a possible start mid February! So just need to get the OK from Gnome and a commitment to get out of bed for a 9:30 lesson every week until March (...

The Next Three Weeks

So I have a few busy weeks ahead that may, or may not, affect what happens here. So this weekend I am running the Chester metric marathon - should do about 3:30 and get a PB by around 30 mins if things go to plan. Next week I am on holiday and have the in-laws visiting which will be nice. Then after then I have 2 weeks of jury service in Derby. I really want to get a case as I am really interested in knowing what actually happens and what it's like in court. But knowing my luck I will have 2 weeks of waiting for nothing. I have Ami's zoom calls to review and take notes on, books to read, coloring/drawing to try my hand at and Loki to watch! After that the exciting news is my part time request has gone through so from 4th December I will be part time. Very exciting. Then hopefully I can start a potential path to being a swimming teacher. Fun days ahead
