Grrrrr

Well I've got to have an impromptu half day ... deliver scheduled for 2:30 now 12! Still this means I can do 2 things:

1) I can try a run and if I start coughing I can change it into a walk without stressing about time as I will have all afternoon!
2) I can mess about with my Linux box! May need to re-install as I am not sure I can remember the password! Also it will need updating too!

I may even potter in the garden a bit! Who knows!! Either way I'm off in 10!!

I have run!!!!

Yes it's true!!! Once the delivery had been and gone and hubby was home I went for a potter! Wasn't sure for how long due to cough/cold but I went out anyway.

I now have tired legs and a dry throat but I did 6m!!! And I ran 3.16m without walking!! Very pleased! Ok it was slow but I don't care!! Will fill in more details later as I now need a bath!

Additional update!

Right so I missed my run this morning as I was tired and still not 100% but having got home and being faced with a free afternoon I just had to go for a run!

I was expecting to cough lots so mainly walk in fact I was really expecting to give up after about 1m and crawl home coughing my guts up! So I started off with a walk (about 1/4m) then I trotted across the field stopped to removed grit from my shoes (didn't stop watch for a change after all I wasn't really bothered about time!). Then I trotted again and stopped again for more grit removal (that's the problem with off road running!). Soon I was at the 1m marker (soon as in 16mins!) so I thought I would try to run as long as I could however slow that may be!

As the 2m mark approached I realised I wasn't as dead as last Friday and hadn't been coughing (breathing really heavy yes but not coughing) so decided to keep going. Maybe 1.5m non stop? Or 2m? As I decided to go for two I turned down the canal and into a strong head wind!

Stubborn Pixie said "we said we would do 2m! So we will!". As the path turned and the wind lessened I thought "could I get to 2.5m?" followed shortly by "go on a full 5k!". This is were the undulations come in but having got the 5k idea in my head I was desperate to keep going! The legs were tiring and the breathing sounded liek Darth Vader but I plodded on.

As the GPS turned to 4m (3m running!) I felt good and altered my route to allow for easier running and no sties or bridges to crossed! Then bang! Legs said enough was enough! So beaming, wobbling and wandering across the trail I stopped!

I planned to do a cool down walk all the way home but after 0.3m I was trotting again... aim this time was just 1/2m and I did it! In fact my walk home was a walk run and as I pottered into my road I looked at my watch ... 5.8m. So yes I carried on past the house to get the full 6m! Sad I know!!

Anyway I was delighted! Really pleased! Legs are tired now and there is a hint of tender heel (hmm :-( not happy about that) but I'm pleased! miles splits are 16.09,13.55,14.13,13.51,14.59,16.11 and if I count the 3m run non stop that's a post TW 5k PB of about 42mins. In November I was doing 33mins but the legs are slowly coming back! Can't see a PB but I'll have fun!

Now I need some sleep! I know I have run today!! As for tomorrow ... rest day! I wonder if I will also get some news? I'll let you know if I do!

Nite everyone!

Sensible Head

The choice was getting wet or getting wet. I opted for the wet but warm option rather than the wet, cold and wind swept option! So 1m done at the pool including 2 goals being achieved and some board work. I said a while ago I wanted to be able to do 20 lengths non stop DONE and 10 lengths of front crawl non stop DONE!! So happy pixie. Used a different pool today as I wanted to see about lessons for Gnome. It was a nightmare to locate the car park and once I found it, it was full to the brim with cars circling for spaces so I drove the 200m down the road to the free parking and nabbed the last space there instead! The pool is old so not pretty or ponced up but it is clean and in good repair and they do Saturday lessons and Gnome can start this week! OK so he then has 2 weeks off but how good is that! My other option was the pool near work and a possible start mid February! So just need to get the OK from Gnome and a commitment to get out of bed for a 9:30 lesson every week until March (...

Remember this?

Yes I'm back on the bench :-( That sore foot thing on Wednesday... well it's still here. In typical bruised fashion it hurts more after a period of sitting down/sleep and I've been popping the brufen. There is a slight swelling too. Don't think it is laces ... on closer inspection the pain is (looks at google ... gives up and picks up "how to run injury free" instead) on the sesamoids area of the err middle phalanger (??? impressed hey!) In the same location where you would get morton's neuroma but the description is wrong so I don't think it's that!! (oh the perils of a little knowledge from a book or the web hey!) Anyways this means I'm on the bench. No running. I have 4 or 5 weeks until the Suicide Sixish so no panic, I will take 1 whole week off regardless and see what happens next weekend. Also think I will get some new shoes with more cushioning. Now all I need to do is locate my bike and/or exercise bike from the depths of the garage un...

Ten Week Training Block

Monday is the start of a new 10 week training block. Well Ok it's the start of my second round of The Six Pack Revolution this time I am doing the sculpt program. I did Signature in May and did really well. Lost 21lbs and rediscovered my love of running lots (rather than just running!) which has meant that I have had a great, extended, training block for my race next weekend. Problem was that at the end of the 10 weeks I slowly but surely reverted to a lot of my old habits and as such have regained 4-5lbs. Luckily my running has kept it to just 4-5lbs - I know if I hadn't been doing so many miles then it would have been more. So next week I start again, and I am trying a different mindset. Instead of seeing it as a 10 week program I am thinking of it as a 10 week training block. The say Winter miles make for Summer smiles but also the winter is a time for more indoor training! When most runners hide away a bit but do more of the stuff we should do all year as we then have an ex...
