The Countdown Continues

This time next week and I will be on my last day at work! Yippee! Not that I am counting!

I'm looking forward to the challenges and the changes ahead ... I think I need it becuase at this moment in time I feel like my brain is slowlt dripping out of my ears!

Last night we had a "not quite left" leaving meal ... a very nice curry with just a few friends from work. It was nice to have a giggle and a bitch!

Today I feel just slightly err larger and intend to go for a run at lunch!

Lunchtime Edit

So my last two runs have been less than pleasing so today I decided that I would step back and repeat Tuesdays 3:3 rather than pushing ahead. I continued to think about this idea as I trotted today and I have decided that I will repeat this 3:3 for another couple of runs until I am feeling totally comfortable and the pace is consistent and ideally about the 10mm pace.

Today's run was so much better than Tuesday! The pace was better and more consistent across the whole run. Like before I didn't do the 4 sets but 5 (then 90 extra seconds cos I miss counted!). As before I still had the tight calves but not as bad as there were on the last two runs. This is something that I need to speak to the clever people about and if anyone in blog land want to comment then that's just great!

Since I started the walk run thing I have been running my run slots at arround 10mm pace. The shorter ones (1 or 2mins) where under 10mm pace and now they are 10-11mm pace. When I was doing the shorter runs up to the 2R:4W session I had no tightness. My two slow but continuous runs at the weekend again no tightness. This week were the run has stepped up to 3+mins and the walk reduced to 3mins I have had tightness. So is this the weekend's efforts or body adjusting to faster running?

So again I started with a 5mins walking warm up before I changed to the run:walk part of my plan. As I've already mentioned my planned pace is to try and stay on or arround the 10mm pace. I want to be able to get to the stage where I can run for, say, 30mins at that pace without walking before I embark on a plan for Brass Monkey. I would like a stonking PB there seeing as it is a PB course!

There are some truely wonderful people out there

just recieved this by mail from a fellow blogger. I want to share it so everyone can benefit as I have. I've wiped my tears away and I've printed this up so when I am getting sulky and down I will read this and remember .... Aim High! (how appropriate is that name!) Don't EVER think that you any any less of a runner than anyone else Kim, You show a dedication and determination that puts many people to shame. You have a goal for your marathon time which is truly amazing - and I am inspired by it..We all have our dream peaks (sorry about the mountain reference again - I'm a mountaineer too!) - and they are a reflection of who we are and what we are able to acheive - for ourselves - and anyone who can't see the value of that endeavour is blind indeed. When you run your next pb - to me that is as phenomenal an achievement as any world record..and I will bounce up and down like a mad thing at the thought of it - and I get pretty animated when I'm excited about somethi...

Remember this?

Yes I'm back on the bench :-( That sore foot thing on Wednesday... well it's still here. In typical bruised fashion it hurts more after a period of sitting down/sleep and I've been popping the brufen. There is a slight swelling too. Don't think it is laces ... on closer inspection the pain is (looks at google ... gives up and picks up "how to run injury free" instead) on the sesamoids area of the err middle phalanger (??? impressed hey!) In the same location where you would get morton's neuroma but the description is wrong so I don't think it's that!! (oh the perils of a little knowledge from a book or the web hey!) Anyways this means I'm on the bench. No running. I have 4 or 5 weeks until the Suicide Sixish so no panic, I will take 1 whole week off regardless and see what happens next weekend. Also think I will get some new shoes with more cushioning. Now all I need to do is locate my bike and/or exercise bike from the depths of the garage un...

Munchtime Run

Woke up feeling "coldy" ... tender throat, tired and headache. Decided the headache was due to lack of drink the night before as I was talking to Duck for 90mins! So had some paracetomol and drink and packed my kit! My reasoning being that even if it was a cold it was not "on my chest" so no harm in running and anyway the fresh air would do my head good! Spent most of the morning feeling pants too. Headache has still there despite drink and drugs but I had my kit so off I went.1.2m in and the batteries on my GPS died! This meant it was me and the smog filled roads and my watch. As I alter my route slightly every run (so I don't compare splits!) I didn't really know the distance or pace. I did know that when I got to the Ford garage that the office was just over 1m away and I had about 13mins left when I got there. Problem was that it wasn't much further before my legs said "you are having a laugh!" and I started to flag. As I knew I was having ...
