Another Day Another $

>Pixie flops half asleep onto chair<

Last night I decided that it would be a really good idea to strip some more of the hallway wall paper off. I was already tired from the brain usage in new job and then running two days in a row so maybe not my best idea! I slept well mind! Bit too well as I had no recollection of the alarm going off and nearly ended up being late!

Anyyyyyway … I got in with kit and I'm half asleep! It's taken 2 large cuppa teas at work (total 3 for the morning instead of normal 1!) to make me feel even half awake! Brain is definitely in go slow mode! Think it will be a bath and early night for the Pixie tonight!

Lunchtime … run with the boys (!!) Well I ran with J and S played chase again! He caught us within 19mins then stormed off into the distance!

Today was much nicer running weather and J decided I should do a longer run so he could show me more routes! Fair enough! Whilst out we chatted about his RAF stuff, how often does he get called up etc etc. Well I asked the odd quick gasped question and he answered in detail!

The 201 lost signal as we were under some trees and when we came out it read 29mins and just under 2m, by the time we finished it said 38:34 and 2.78m with the 2nd mile taking 16:41 … I think not! Estimating 12mm pace (from the 1st mile at 12.11 and the last 0.8m in 9.41) this makes it over 3m so a 2006 5k PB!! Again the calves ached and were tight but this went after about 20 mins and after that I was running fairly strong and it was good! Over all it was again a good run and nice that J is taking the time to show me where to go and where routes go etc. Once back at the office I looked on the map and he showed me where we went meaning I know for when I run alone. The run for him was about 5-6mins slower than his normal time, but as he said he finished knowing he had run but not knackered so good for both of us!

When we got back "home" J had missed a call …. Potential RAF call up! In November! For 4mths! So if he does go I have 5 weeks to learn everything! Arrrggghhh!!! Minor stress! I mean if he goes I am in such grief and will have to have some very intensive training. Without realising I was worrying about 1 or so hours later I noticed I had the tell tale belly pains of stressing. So out came the colpermine before it got worse. I know that if he does go they can't expect miracles of me having only started last week but still! Also if he goes will my chances of training course(s) this year get knocked on the head? Last time he was away (2004 for 8mths) the company got someone in but with 1mths notice, oh I don't know! No point worrying about what you can't change hey!

Now do I potter alone for a short one tomorrow or not? Ok maybe not but what I will do ... as it is "dress down Friday" is go for a longer walk ... maybe even walk the 2.4m we ran on Tuesday?

There are some truely wonderful people out there

just recieved this by mail from a fellow blogger. I want to share it so everyone can benefit as I have. I've wiped my tears away and I've printed this up so when I am getting sulky and down I will read this and remember .... Aim High! (how appropriate is that name!) Don't EVER think that you any any less of a runner than anyone else Kim, You show a dedication and determination that puts many people to shame. You have a goal for your marathon time which is truly amazing - and I am inspired by it..We all have our dream peaks (sorry about the mountain reference again - I'm a mountaineer too!) - and they are a reflection of who we are and what we are able to acheive - for ourselves - and anyone who can't see the value of that endeavour is blind indeed. When you run your next pb - to me that is as phenomenal an achievement as any world record..and I will bounce up and down like a mad thing at the thought of it - and I get pretty animated when I'm excited about somethi...

Remember this?

Yes I'm back on the bench :-( That sore foot thing on Wednesday... well it's still here. In typical bruised fashion it hurts more after a period of sitting down/sleep and I've been popping the brufen. There is a slight swelling too. Don't think it is laces ... on closer inspection the pain is (looks at google ... gives up and picks up "how to run injury free" instead) on the sesamoids area of the err middle phalanger (??? impressed hey!) In the same location where you would get morton's neuroma but the description is wrong so I don't think it's that!! (oh the perils of a little knowledge from a book or the web hey!) Anyways this means I'm on the bench. No running. I have 4 or 5 weeks until the Suicide Sixish so no panic, I will take 1 whole week off regardless and see what happens next weekend. Also think I will get some new shoes with more cushioning. Now all I need to do is locate my bike and/or exercise bike from the depths of the garage un...

Munchtime Run

Woke up feeling "coldy" ... tender throat, tired and headache. Decided the headache was due to lack of drink the night before as I was talking to Duck for 90mins! So had some paracetomol and drink and packed my kit! My reasoning being that even if it was a cold it was not "on my chest" so no harm in running and anyway the fresh air would do my head good! Spent most of the morning feeling pants too. Headache has still there despite drink and drugs but I had my kit so off I went.1.2m in and the batteries on my GPS died! This meant it was me and the smog filled roads and my watch. As I alter my route slightly every run (so I don't compare splits!) I didn't really know the distance or pace. I did know that when I got to the Ford garage that the office was just over 1m away and I had about 13mins left when I got there. Problem was that it wasn't much further before my legs said "you are having a laugh!" and I started to flag. As I knew I was having ...
