Yep twice already and another planned Thursday and maybe even a short trot on Sunday with a buzzy one following a splashing session! >beams enthusiastically<
Ok so Monday. Got up and again massaged legs. Was conscious of last week's bad runs and running with LA. She had a meeting at 1 so I knew she would want to get on and run. As it turned out she was late getting to the changing (so I stretched and warmed up! >listens for applause< whilst waiting). It was wet and windy. The playing field we cross was wet (1" deep puddles everywhere hidden from view due to long grass!) and muddy so slippery. The trail had lots of puddles too and it was hard work! The legs held together well with minimal ache/tightness and I didn't walk at all! Time was 3mins slower than my best and about 60-90 secs off the average time. Hmmm.
Today LA decided we would do the slightly longer route. Down hill for the 1st 1-1.5m then uphill all the way home. Today was also VERY windy. Dry but very very strong winds. I just couldn't cope, I was running but felt like I was going nowhere. We've only done this route once and my 1st checkpoint (!! end of downhill section) was 2mins slower. After that I was just too shot to take advantage of any time we were sheltered. The other checkpoints were only 30secs out which I was pleased with! Again I kept running like yesterday but my legs were so tired! Also I think that both yesterday and today I was leaning into the wind as after about 20mins I had such back ache. I wanted to do the hands on hips and lean back pose like a pregnant lady does to stretch! Now this could be leaning into the wind or it could be body shouting "core muscles!" not sure which!
When I got back to my desk fate decreed what my 1st goal of the year would be race wise. The company (well our department at least!) are doing the Leicester RFL in July (? website not live until 5th Feb so date unknown as yet!) and yes I said I would do it! The Brum one was earlier this year so hopefully Brum will be a trot with Tinks, Leicester will be a proper race (31mins?) and then in September I will race the Hydro Active again (sub 30 by then I hope!). So training properly now
