OK so I expect a few of you may be confused about the Goldfish.
Well let me explain.
Goldfish: Know for short memory
Elephant: Know to "never forget"
Gazelle: Fast and athletic
When it comes to losing weight I am very much a goldfish. I wake up full of good intentions, have breakfast and go to work. By the time I get there I have forgotten the diet. Then I eat something and remember it. Then ... the circle continues. So yes I am a goldfish with a short term memory for losing weight. I need to become an elephant and therefore remember that I am trying to eat less, eat healthy and lose weight. Elephants never forget and if I can remember and become more conscious of my diet then I will become that gazelle I want to be!
At the end of my course we were given a free gift. Not the usual pen and mouse mat ... no ... we got a "Fit Kit". This contains a body fat monitor, blood pressure monitor (that gives pulse), booklet (10 weeks to a healthier you - stop dieting, eat and get fit!) and a calorie monitor which is a pedometer that does stuff like work out how far you have to walk to work of X calories oh and is also a radio!
Is this a sign that I need a kick up the bum? I think so!
A couple of weeks ago we had a meeting about the charity of the year at work. Monday we are expecting an announcement about the sponsored slim, how to register and (I hope!) information about a Rosemary Conley class coming to work. Another sign?
Next week I am also joining the gym.
From Monday this pixie will be in deadly serious goldfish killing mode. The diet will be on full blast, the calculator, pen and paper at hand and I will be counting calories. As I am doing low impact exercise I won't allow anything extra for this. My target is 1500-1600 calories a day, 30mins exercise a day and I will allow myself a maximum of 150calories for a treat. This means if I want to drink wine at the weekend I will have to save my treats.
Wednesday is the start of Lent and I will be joining coach Spans in a NO chocolate stint. So when I say serious I mean it! I will take my weight, blood pressure, pulse and fat % with new gadgets (not sure how accurate these are but if I use the same tools then at least it will be consistent!), measure my waist (minimum may take other measurements!) and track them all. These will be tracked and I will keep you all updated with all of them along with my exercise targets mentioned the other week!
I'm looking at big breakfast, soup lunch and smaller tea using the "breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince, supper like a pauper" theory. So large bowl of shreddies (about 400cals + milk) to start the day and mainly vegetables in my soup with small bread roll/pitta/bread portion and also evening meal with lots of filling veg. Any suggestions for anything welcome! I hope to make most of my soup rather than buy it too.
Overall I want to lose a minimum of 2st and up to 3st depending on how I feel/look. Then once I get there it's time to start smashing some PB's and chasing dinosaurs!
