Accidents Happen and Life Goes On

I can't believe I allowed my emotions to get the better of me yesterday and that I even started to think about a PI claim. Grrr very annoyed with myself for that.

Anyway life goes on.

So what else happened this weekend. Well not too much really. I did do a run on Sunday at 6:30AM (no silly umbrella was stopping me run! At that time I felt fine) As I was at mum's she had left the key out for me. I made up some sports drink and drank about 250ml before I left. Then promptly walked out of the house, left the key in the door and my water on the kitchen table! Oh and the door needs a key to open!

Head said - it's only 80mins of 3R:2W so no problem! The first 2-3 sets where fine and the HR was topping at the 160's and dropping to 140's (or below) which is good. I did 5.5m in total and the last few sets saw the recovery rate the same but HR going up to the 180-190's which was the same as Wednesday's speedwork! The pace was a fairly steedy and consistance pace with the running being about 11.30-12.30mm and each mile being between 13 and 14mins consistently so the heat was effecting me (see HR!) but I was managing just to keep the pace fairly consistent!

Got home and no one was up so I couldn't get in so instead I lay on the wet dew covered grass in the shade of the house and did 10-15mins stretching. Then some sun bathing whilst waiting for someone to get up!

Then I showered had a cuppa tea and about 1l of drink and walked to the paper shop 0.6m away. Got there and bought a 500ml bottle of water and necked it in one! By the time I got home I needed another shower!

Saturday afternoon saw the umbrella incident! We got our shopping free not that it was much, some tomatoe plants for mum and some bird feeders for us (Gnome has been watching the BBC's Springwatch!). At that time I didn't think I had even hurt myself as I felt fine. In hind site I think I was also putting up the "don't worry mum and Gnome" defenses as it wasn't until I was driving home Sunday that I noticed the stiff sore shoulder and started to feel really emotional and teary.

I saw the Dr yesterday as my shoulder was stiff still and raising my arm or moving it did produce some noticable ouchness - driving a manual now means that every time I change gear I feel it! So no work yesterday or today. It's feeling better today than it was so hopefully it will recover quicker than the 7-10days the dr said. She said the metal strut had hit me on the shoulder joint (as she pushes it hard and says "does this hurt?"!!) but that nowt much can be done. Didn't even think that icing would help much. But she did confirm that running should be OK!

Anyway yesterday was still stupidly hot so I had that as a rest day - well I did walk to/from the village 3 times so over 60 mins walking so not total rest! I was going to get up early today and run but the sleepy head monster got the better of me! :-D

Hubby has just got back from the tip with 5 bags of "council compost - peat free organic compost from the gardens of Leicestershire" so much gardening for this weekend! The soil here is awful so hopefully that will improve things. Need to plants some more lettuce and re-pot the peppers and cucumba plants too. See I'm getting all green fingered! Miracles do happen!

Anyway cuppa tea calling! Laters gaters!

Remember this?

Yes I'm back on the bench :-( That sore foot thing on Wednesday... well it's still here. In typical bruised fashion it hurts more after a period of sitting down/sleep and I've been popping the brufen. There is a slight swelling too. Don't think it is laces ... on closer inspection the pain is (looks at google ... gives up and picks up "how to run injury free" instead) on the sesamoids area of the err middle phalanger (??? impressed hey!) In the same location where you would get morton's neuroma but the description is wrong so I don't think it's that!! (oh the perils of a little knowledge from a book or the web hey!) Anyways this means I'm on the bench. No running. I have 4 or 5 weeks until the Suicide Sixish so no panic, I will take 1 whole week off regardless and see what happens next weekend. Also think I will get some new shoes with more cushioning. Now all I need to do is locate my bike and/or exercise bike from the depths of the garage un...

Sensible Head

The choice was getting wet or getting wet. I opted for the wet but warm option rather than the wet, cold and wind swept option! So 1m done at the pool including 2 goals being achieved and some board work. I said a while ago I wanted to be able to do 20 lengths non stop DONE and 10 lengths of front crawl non stop DONE!! So happy pixie. Used a different pool today as I wanted to see about lessons for Gnome. It was a nightmare to locate the car park and once I found it, it was full to the brim with cars circling for spaces so I drove the 200m down the road to the free parking and nabbed the last space there instead! The pool is old so not pretty or ponced up but it is clean and in good repair and they do Saturday lessons and Gnome can start this week! OK so he then has 2 weeks off but how good is that! My other option was the pool near work and a possible start mid February! So just need to get the OK from Gnome and a commitment to get out of bed for a 9:30 lesson every week until March (...

Ten Week Training Block

Monday is the start of a new 10 week training block. Well Ok it's the start of my second round of The Six Pack Revolution this time I am doing the sculpt program. I did Signature in May and did really well. Lost 21lbs and rediscovered my love of running lots (rather than just running!) which has meant that I have had a great, extended, training block for my race next weekend. Problem was that at the end of the 10 weeks I slowly but surely reverted to a lot of my old habits and as such have regained 4-5lbs. Luckily my running has kept it to just 4-5lbs - I know if I hadn't been doing so many miles then it would have been more. So next week I start again, and I am trying a different mindset. Instead of seeing it as a 10 week program I am thinking of it as a 10 week training block. The say Winter miles make for Summer smiles but also the winter is a time for more indoor training! When most runners hide away a bit but do more of the stuff we should do all year as we then have an ex...
