Getting There Slowly

Well the weekend was a long slow one because I was resting.

I did find lots of things to do like
  • sewing (I'm making a bear from a kit for my mum's Christmas present)
  • embrodiary (again for mum but this was started 8yrs ago!)
  • tiding the kitchen (getting a dishwasher and need to make space)
  • tiding with Gnome (well his room was a mess (he is only 8 remember so it's expected!) and he needs space as I have no doubt my mum will spend too much at Christmas!)
  • installed Red Hat 8 on old/spare box (found an old disk and gave that a try seeing as Fedora wouldn't work!)

So anyway lots to keep me amused but it just wasn't "right". I should be washing lots of running kit and planning and doing a long run at the weekend. The tready kept on calling from the garage too trying to tempt me to do a short 20-30 mins but I remained resolute and stayed away.

Today I feel in danger of being over this pesky cold. I have to go buy some audio cables, and stuffing for my bear so no running. Tomorrow is staff lunch so I need to think, another rest day or a run and cold left overs ?

Husband is working at the weekend and dishwasher is being delivered which makes long runs harder. My legs do need a warm up now so getting up early (in the cold!) to do a run before he leaves for work on Sunday isn't an option as such so perhaps a short outside run followed by a tready run, or short exercise bike and short tready run. We'll see!

Still no news from the ENT peeps either.

Pixel: Warm water in the shower. 15 minutes before the run - works wonders. Less hassle than that warm up lark - less painful anyway.

Am I the only one thatactually likes running in the cold then? (though not keen on the cold/dark combo)
I overheat less and feel so much more comfortable when it's cold.

Hmm installing Linux on an old box.

{RobW scurries off to find old computers}

Question is what do you do with a Linux box at home?

Hope your cold clears soon

I have to admit I do prefer running in the colder weather as I do not over heat, the countryside looks nicer, and there are less dog walkers and children about. But I find it harder to get out the door when it's cold, as hot summer days are inviting you outside, dull wintery days do not.

There are some truely wonderful people out there

just recieved this by mail from a fellow blogger. I want to share it so everyone can benefit as I have. I've wiped my tears away and I've printed this up so when I am getting sulky and down I will read this and remember .... Aim High! (how appropriate is that name!) Don't EVER think that you any any less of a runner than anyone else Kim, You show a dedication and determination that puts many people to shame. You have a goal for your marathon time which is truly amazing - and I am inspired by it..We all have our dream peaks (sorry about the mountain reference again - I'm a mountaineer too!) - and they are a reflection of who we are and what we are able to acheive - for ourselves - and anyone who can't see the value of that endeavour is blind indeed. When you run your next pb - to me that is as phenomenal an achievement as any world record..and I will bounce up and down like a mad thing at the thought of it - and I get pretty animated when I'm excited about somethi...

Remember this?

Yes I'm back on the bench :-( That sore foot thing on Wednesday... well it's still here. In typical bruised fashion it hurts more after a period of sitting down/sleep and I've been popping the brufen. There is a slight swelling too. Don't think it is laces ... on closer inspection the pain is (looks at google ... gives up and picks up "how to run injury free" instead) on the sesamoids area of the err middle phalanger (??? impressed hey!) In the same location where you would get morton's neuroma but the description is wrong so I don't think it's that!! (oh the perils of a little knowledge from a book or the web hey!) Anyways this means I'm on the bench. No running. I have 4 or 5 weeks until the Suicide Sixish so no panic, I will take 1 whole week off regardless and see what happens next weekend. Also think I will get some new shoes with more cushioning. Now all I need to do is locate my bike and/or exercise bike from the depths of the garage un...

Munchtime Run

Woke up feeling "coldy" ... tender throat, tired and headache. Decided the headache was due to lack of drink the night before as I was talking to Duck for 90mins! So had some paracetomol and drink and packed my kit! My reasoning being that even if it was a cold it was not "on my chest" so no harm in running and anyway the fresh air would do my head good! Spent most of the morning feeling pants too. Headache has still there despite drink and drugs but I had my kit so off I went.1.2m in and the batteries on my GPS died! This meant it was me and the smog filled roads and my watch. As I alter my route slightly every run (so I don't compare splits!) I didn't really know the distance or pace. I did know that when I got to the Ford garage that the office was just over 1m away and I had about 13mins left when I got there. Problem was that it wasn't much further before my legs said "you are having a laugh!" and I started to flag. As I knew I was having ...
