"It depends what you want to do with your life"

Quote by Coach Spans yesterday when I bounced up to her asking permission to enter FLM07!

Yesterday ...
I felt the electricity from the event and the runners, and I wanted to be there in the heart of the action.

I saw the fast ladies with total awe and wanted to be them, so slender and toned and fit and fast.

I saw the elites who had "Had accidences" and thought how sad to be so fixed on a goal to do that and carry on regardless.

Then I could see (and feel) the pain and suffering from the slower runners, leaning against rails stretching and trying to take drugs.

I saw huge smiles and tears and pride.

Then part of me said BOLLOX I am entering next year regardless whilst part of me said that I still wanted to be with the faster people whilst recognising that they looked alone and that they were running alone

That is a huge question ... I want the happiness of achieving my goal whilst wanting to do FLM or another marafun again ASAP yet I know that marafun training at my current pace is bad for family life it's just too time consuming .... but I want to join the party and feel that life that the 1000s of runners at FLM generate!

I was happy and smiling yesterday then tearful and down. I loved the day! If I don't run next year I will be back to support.

There is only one London Marathon. It does our country proud.

Just train - it's a great event to do even if you don't have a GFA time.

Why deny yourself the pleasure?

Do it anyway next year and then GFA the year after if that's where you're at training-wise

Benz it means ... doing the "standard" 20m run now will take well over 4hrs, but at a faster pace it would take so much less. Running for that long knackers pixie which reduces training!

Bear that's where I am just now! I am tempted to do that using it as a training run as such and also to use the training camp idea of no run longer than 3hrs. I did say if I got to 9st7 by TW I would enter. Nothing to say I would get in anyway! And I could (if I improved enough) look to do say Cardiff as a fast one

do it - you know you want to :o)

glad you enjoyed it yesterday - and I'm very pleased to read that you'll be back again next year to support if you don't get a place, it *is* such a good day out!

I'm of the opinion that for many, training isn't that much fun, and so throwing in targets to aim for along the way to the main goal is what you need to maintain motivation, interest, and ultimately to keep you going when you're tempting to "skive off" rather than train.

Question is - will you work as hard without targets like FLM07?

all i mean pix, is that to get the GFA-you will need to up your mileage a LOT
so you will end up doing more hours per week training-even if you are a lot quicker over 20 miles
you would also do more long runs

I think I am about to say the same as Ruth

you do have to be realistic about gfa - it will involve loads and loads of running - you need to get the time on the feet whatever the pace - so do you actually have the time in your life for that?

why not take the pressure off a bit and enjoy your running for the pleasure it gives and the friendships it has brought - speed isn't everything

and enter for 2007

The Next Three Weeks

So I have a few busy weeks ahead that may, or may not, affect what happens here. So this weekend I am running the Chester metric marathon - should do about 3:30 and get a PB by around 30 mins if things go to plan. Next week I am on holiday and have the in-laws visiting which will be nice. Then after then I have 2 weeks of jury service in Derby. I really want to get a case as I am really interested in knowing what actually happens and what it's like in court. But knowing my luck I will have 2 weeks of waiting for nothing. I have Ami's zoom calls to review and take notes on, books to read, coloring/drawing to try my hand at and Loki to watch! After that the exciting news is my part time request has gone through so from 4th December I will be part time. Very exciting. Then hopefully I can start a potential path to being a swimming teacher. Fun days ahead

What Are You??

Apparently I am a geek after spending some time chatting to a first line support person and comparing degrees!! I am also apparently an executive as I earn more than a certain sum of money! This I must point out is executive in the eyes of a Midlands person and not a southern!! I think I am a runner and a mother because I run and have a son! I don't think I have a career and would struggle to define what I really do! Talking of which I may change the address for this site to blog.html or similar because if I do go job hunting I am not sure if my made ramblings should be front page news!! hehe!! I currently work in IT doing support with a hint of customer service at second line. I run and I'm trying to learn to draw! So what or who are you!?!
