That is indeed the question!
This morning I went to the Drs and got an appointment for this afternoon. Very pleased. Get there and Dr has a prod and I squeal as I had on Saturday when v-rap prodded! GP does not think it is tendons as I have too much movement and it's very rare to get tendon problems there he says. He thinks yes it is probably an SF. Between his words I read "take 6wks off and if it still hurts we can look at it". His actual words "get and x-ray" I said only 2wks? would it show? He said "if it is a SF then it should be repairing and some bone should be visible after 2weeks, otherwise you have a problem". I mentioned a bone scan as that would show and he said he couldn't authorise it but the hossie could so if I went there and they thought I needed one then fine. Sounded like "I am not really sure what it is, have an x-ray to make it seem like I am being useful and come back in 6wks if it is still a problem"
So I went to the hossie. I have a letter for A&E to avoid the queue. There is lots of people there so phew I have a letter and can avoid the queue! receptionist ... "do you have a green form?" No I have a letter! "You need a green form ... 3hrs waiting before you will be seen then a wait for x-ray. Green form means you go straight to x-ray" Oh joy! Wasted journey (hubby is on nights and I can not wait that long!) and paid for car park! Grrrr
So now what. Do I go with the gut instinct and not bother with the x-ray? Perhaps call the x-ray dept and ask if they can authorise a scan in which case go? Or do I just say 3-4wks off 100% then see what foot says knowing I could need 6-8 weeks off? Everything I read about SF says 3-4 weeks minimum before they show on an x-ray
If I am not running I need to do something. I've found a gym and pool next to work if I can go which I think I can. The suicide is probably off (that's in 4wks!) and BM is looking shady especially if I need 6-8wks off. So I need to lose weight (that will help the foot!) and try to maintain and improve CV fitness in a totally none impact manner.
Talking of which the swimathon starts on 22nd March ... maybe I should target the 5K (for the medal!)? Take my bike to work? Swim pre-work when I can and cycle when I can't?? Hmmm brain overload!!

must be peculiar to your hozzie
Hence I think it was a fob off to be honest.
I am still hoping it's just a tendon strain! If I take 3 wks off then that will be 5 in total and 1wk before the suicide which will be enough to tell me if I can potter round that or just support and carry on resting!
a lot of injuries DO get better in a few weeks
and i suppose radiation has to be usd ensibly
The more i think about it, the more sensible it seems to let the x ray dept decide on the most usevful test
this is what uinofficially happens to hozzie docs-often we go down and discuss it with the xray consultants first
otherrwise, what can happen is that the form just gets returned with "inapproriate request" on it, and that cuases delays.
hm-so maybe its a good system
swim swim and swim a bit more - and bike too :o)
