Welcome to 2007!

OK so I'm a tad late on this post, I'll blame my course as I was away in Manchester for 2 nights with no Internet access! Right then resolutions? Hmmm Ok here goes.

Stop eating diet food - was sent a free sample of slimfast soup which was so foul I didn't eat it and when I looked at it the slimfast was worse nutritionally than Heinz Big Soup!
Run 500m in 2007, did 400m in 2006 and if I can do 40m per month this is 480m, just add a couple of races and a couple of good weeks and Bob's your uncle!
Aim to do the 5K swimathon (did my fastest 1m swim Christmas week - 43mins) This means I need to do some swimming! Gnome wants to do the Green Park Challenge at the Reading half marathon so I may see if I can swim this at Reading.
Drink more eat less lose weight eat more fruit (the normal!) Well you expected that didn't you! The ladies in the team attached to mine are doing a team "diet" as of Monday so I am joining in. This also means I will/have stopped WW. I have all the information I need and think I will get more support from the ladies I work with (and daily!) than a weekly class of people I don't know. Saves money too!
Max race of a half towards the end of the year so work on shorter distances and speed. I want to do the Hydro Active 5k in Brum again (with V-rap) and smash my PB. So that's a goal for September. Maybe do a half in October?
More consistency in running (aim for 3 runs during the week) see comments on annual mileage!
Pass probationary period here and try to get to a higher job grade during 2007
Actually read the magazines I buy and don't buy new ones until I have read the ones I have!
Do some extra exercise like stretches and toning. Said that before haven't I!

Today I went for a run. Well I went to the Post Office in my kit faster than a walk and proceeded back to the office in a longer route than required faster than walking! I had a parcel to post so took it with me. There was a massive queue so after waiting for a couple of mins to see if it was moving I carried on carrying my parcel! Well A4 envelope with stuff in not a huge box or anything!

The run today resulted in a "at least I got out" affair as it was really slow, more walking than running, legs heavy and tired and my calves tight. This could be due to the race or indeed the long drive to Manchester and back as I am not used to long drives. Anyway I wasn't a happy Pixie! My parcel wasn't posted, I skinned my knuckle on the handle of the security gate and it was slow with bad legs! I mean there wasn't anything positive about it really!

Tomorrow Gnome and I are shopping and swimming. Hubby is on weekends so if I want my 3rd run of the week then I will be out after dark (in my new reflective bib) tomorrow (hmm that will be a double) unless I can get up early on Sunday! Unless!

Anyways that's my thoughts for the year ahead! Lets see what happens hey?!

I am of the opinion that any run is a good run

your goals are easily achievable-you will do those no worries

no biggies this year?

Thanks Benzie!
I seem to fail on big goals so small achievable ones for me which when added up may give some big improvements! well that's the plan!

Echo what Benz said - and yes we all do have a pants run every now and then, makes you realise which ones the good ones are :o)

Good luck with your goals - Im sure you can achieve all of them

btw - Green Park Challenge starts at 8.30 this year, so I'll be doing it with the boys as a warm up to the Half!

The choice was getting wet or getting wet. I opted for the wet but warm option rather than the wet, cold and wind swept option! So 1m done at the pool including 2 goals being achieved and some board work. I said a while ago I wanted to be able to do 20 lengths non stop DONE and 10 lengths of front crawl non stop DONE!! So happy pixie. Used a different pool today as I wanted to see about lessons for Gnome. It was a nightmare to locate the car park and once I found it, it was full to the brim with cars circling for spaces so I drove the 200m down the road to the free parking and nabbed the last space there instead! The pool is old so not pretty or ponced up but it is clean and in good repair and they do Saturday lessons and Gnome can start this week! OK so he then has 2 weeks off but how good is that! My other option was the pool near work and a possible start mid February! So just need to get the OK from Gnome and a commitment to get out of bed for a 9:30 lesson every week until March (...

Remember this?

Yes I'm back on the bench :-( That sore foot thing on Wednesday... well it's still here. In typical bruised fashion it hurts more after a period of sitting down/sleep and I've been popping the brufen. There is a slight swelling too. Don't think it is laces ... on closer inspection the pain is (looks at google ... gives up and picks up "how to run injury free" instead) on the sesamoids area of the err middle phalanger (??? impressed hey!) In the same location where you would get morton's neuroma but the description is wrong so I don't think it's that!! (oh the perils of a little knowledge from a book or the web hey!) Anyways this means I'm on the bench. No running. I have 4 or 5 weeks until the Suicide Sixish so no panic, I will take 1 whole week off regardless and see what happens next weekend. Also think I will get some new shoes with more cushioning. Now all I need to do is locate my bike and/or exercise bike from the depths of the garage un...

Time Trial Time!

I’m very poor at pushing myself and doing speed work but recently I’ve started doing a virtual mile “race” each month and 5k too. Last weekend I got a season best on my mile at 10:50 which isn’t fast but the fastest I’ve run for way over 10 years! Today I did a speedier 5k. My last couple have been on the same “course” at home but today I was having my car MOTd so ran were I was. This meant a lot of corners and looping so I wasn’t expecting any improvement but I managed to take 5s off my time!  Ok so again not fast at 36:42 but I’m slow and fat! and I’ve been running for distance and endurance for the last few months.  My “A” race is next weekend after that I’m going to try and work on my speed. I’ll be doing a 5m race series over the winter which will hopefully help.  So I’ll using Ami’s teachings and focusing on imagining working hard to keep going when it hurts.  I won’t get to PB shape yet (well possibly not!) but I hope to take minutes off the best tim...
