PT Session

Yesterday I had my first proper PT session. Having been wished luck the day before and having struggled to get out of bed Monday morning I was sure I would over sleep. This meant a restless night of "what time is it? Have I over slept?" which was hardly ideal but did mean I was up, dressed and able to have some tea and bread before I headed to the gym and I got there early!

Having got there early I sat on the recumbent bike for a few minutes gently peddling to wake up my legs which were sure they shouldn't be working at this time! Then it was time!

The clock turned to 7:30AM and Craig turned with a huge smile and lured me onto the treadmill!

Ok so normally I do 10-12 mins at 11mm pace. So we start at 11mm pace, then after 5mins he ups it to 10:30 pace then again after another 5mins to 10mm pace! By this time I was awake and struggling so I was pleased at only having to hold the 10mm pace for 3mins following it by a 2mins walk. So 15mins on the treadmill doing 1.31m and already I am hot, dripping with sweat and wanting to lie down!

Next resistance work. Starting off with 3 sets of 20 squats on the gym ball (up against the wall) followed immediately by 1min of using the stepper whilst holding weights. By the 2nd set my quads were starting to ache, by the 3rd set they were turning to jelly!

Now worries! Legs can have a rest whilst we now do 4 sets of 15 press ups on the gym ball i.e. arms now get to turn to jelly! Then back to do more work on the legs with static lunges and squats with weights of the stepper (hard to explain). I have never been so pleased to go for a stretch as this meant A time was up and B no more muscles turning to jelly!!

My legs don't feel too bad now so I should still be out for my scheduled run tomorrow but my triceps are aching! I really know I have worked and worked hard! Definitely getting my moneys worth! Still if I want to lose weight, tone up and do London again I need to work for it!!

Today I woke up to a mild case of DOMS and a 30mins run scheduled. Again I was at work early meaning a pre-work run. I chose a flatter route today expecting this to be a struggle and it wasn't fantastic (the last 5 or so mins were indeed hard!) but I managed another good run of just over 12mm pace which I am pleased with!

This afternoon though the legs had more of the wonderful DOMS feelings! Hmmm I just hope this is worth all the effort!! :-D

Oooh, sounds like a great workout - they can push you in a way you would never manage to push yourself. Definitely money well spent I reckon.

Keep at it :)

The Next Three Weeks

So I have a few busy weeks ahead that may, or may not, affect what happens here. So this weekend I am running the Chester metric marathon - should do about 3:30 and get a PB by around 30 mins if things go to plan. Next week I am on holiday and have the in-laws visiting which will be nice. Then after then I have 2 weeks of jury service in Derby. I really want to get a case as I am really interested in knowing what actually happens and what it's like in court. But knowing my luck I will have 2 weeks of waiting for nothing. I have Ami's zoom calls to review and take notes on, books to read, coloring/drawing to try my hand at and Loki to watch! After that the exciting news is my part time request has gone through so from 4th December I will be part time. Very exciting. Then hopefully I can start a potential path to being a swimming teacher. Fun days ahead

Planning Ahead

All good plans and all that! A few weeks ago I detailed my planned races as follows: Jan - Brass Monkey Half Feb - Trail Plus Training Camp Feb - Bramley 10m (poss) April - Reading Half April - FLM Support May - Moonwalk Marafun (if I get in!) Sept - Robinhood Half Oct - Great South Run (poss) This is now Jan - Brass Monkey Half Feb - Trail Plus Training Camp April - Reading Half April - FLM Support GSR is only a vague poss now as hubby is working nights so won't get home until the early hours of Saturday so I can't leave Gnome! Which means I would have to travel down Saturday afternoon which isn't the best preparation for a race and PB attempt! So it now looks like I will need to either make this another mainly training year (not a bad thing!) or look for some local races! At this rate it won't be worth joining club in March as I will have nothing to enter and save money off entry fees!! Hey Ho and all that!! Now tomorrow ... hope to do a quick shop 1st thing (new sca...

What Are You??

Apparently I am a geek after spending some time chatting to a first line support person and comparing degrees!! I am also apparently an executive as I earn more than a certain sum of money! This I must point out is executive in the eyes of a Midlands person and not a southern!! I think I am a runner and a mother because I run and have a son! I don't think I have a career and would struggle to define what I really do! Talking of which I may change the address for this site to blog.html or similar because if I do go job hunting I am not sure if my made ramblings should be front page news!! hehe!! I currently work in IT doing support with a hint of customer service at second line. I run and I'm trying to learn to draw! So what or who are you!?!
