Rebel without a bleep!

Yep I went out today to have fun. I did wear my HRM/GPS but didn't check the time when I left (just hit the stopwatch button) and stuck it on HR only.

So off I went, and I ran when I ran and walked when I walked. Previous long runs have been 3:1 and steady runs 5:1. Today I ran for longer and walked for as long as I wanted; up the hills, listening to the birds, watching the rabbits and generally taking in the views! I saw more of life today than normal and it was fun!

I had no plan, no time limit, no route mapped just my phone for music and a bottle of water (it may have been 6:30 when I left but it was still hot!)

I even had a couple of "efforts" after almost an hour, just because I could! I really enjoyed myself!

Last week - 80mins and under 5m, today 80mins, having fun felt soooo much better than last week and dspite probably walking as much I did 5.5m and finished with a smile on my face! (and a bruised arm from the friendly dog who wanted to play!)

I've decided not to do the Thames Run in 2wks because A I haven't covered the distance and B although I could do it I'm not sure it would be fun, I would be all but last (again) and it would be too much for me. Max run since FLM is 6m so that would be a 2m increase and this time I am being sensible! For once!!

Anyway just 1 more week of work then 2wks of with my Gnome!! Which will mean lots of swimming probably!!

There are some truely wonderful people out there

just recieved this by mail from a fellow blogger. I want to share it so everyone can benefit as I have. I've wiped my tears away and I've printed this up so when I am getting sulky and down I will read this and remember .... Aim High! (how appropriate is that name!) Don't EVER think that you any any less of a runner than anyone else Kim, You show a dedication and determination that puts many people to shame. You have a goal for your marathon time which is truly amazing - and I am inspired by it..We all have our dream peaks (sorry about the mountain reference again - I'm a mountaineer too!) - and they are a reflection of who we are and what we are able to acheive - for ourselves - and anyone who can't see the value of that endeavour is blind indeed. When you run your next pb - to me that is as phenomenal an achievement as any world record..and I will bounce up and down like a mad thing at the thought of it - and I get pretty animated when I'm excited about somethi...

Remember this?

Yes I'm back on the bench :-( That sore foot thing on Wednesday... well it's still here. In typical bruised fashion it hurts more after a period of sitting down/sleep and I've been popping the brufen. There is a slight swelling too. Don't think it is laces ... on closer inspection the pain is (looks at google ... gives up and picks up "how to run injury free" instead) on the sesamoids area of the err middle phalanger (??? impressed hey!) In the same location where you would get morton's neuroma but the description is wrong so I don't think it's that!! (oh the perils of a little knowledge from a book or the web hey!) Anyways this means I'm on the bench. No running. I have 4 or 5 weeks until the Suicide Sixish so no panic, I will take 1 whole week off regardless and see what happens next weekend. Also think I will get some new shoes with more cushioning. Now all I need to do is locate my bike and/or exercise bike from the depths of the garage un...

Munchtime Run

Woke up feeling "coldy" ... tender throat, tired and headache. Decided the headache was due to lack of drink the night before as I was talking to Duck for 90mins! So had some paracetomol and drink and packed my kit! My reasoning being that even if it was a cold it was not "on my chest" so no harm in running and anyway the fresh air would do my head good! Spent most of the morning feeling pants too. Headache has still there despite drink and drugs but I had my kit so off I went.1.2m in and the batteries on my GPS died! This meant it was me and the smog filled roads and my watch. As I alter my route slightly every run (so I don't compare splits!) I didn't really know the distance or pace. I did know that when I got to the Ford garage that the office was just over 1m away and I had about 13mins left when I got there. Problem was that it wasn't much further before my legs said "you are having a laugh!" and I started to flag. As I knew I was having ...
