Yes really! I've been out again! I know it's a shock but it's true!
Still regretting leaving it so long before I ran properly! Those 2months have made a difference! I mean the TW training and stuff did maintain my CV fitness but the little old legs don't think much of this running!
So lets see ... started off with HR much lower today which is a good thing! Off I trotted and like Wednesday I had this weird hip pain for the first 5mins (may look at Piriformis Syndrome in more detail) and tight calves. Again I had to stop for a stretch in the 1st mile (twice today) which highlights the importance of warming up! Something I MUST remember at the 5k in a few weeks!
Anyway mile 1 was slow! Mile 2 didn't feel great but I was detirmined to keep going as long as I could. I swapped to running on grass where I could and although I could still feel my calves I carried on and managed to run the whole mile!! I know it's tragic that I am pleased at this! The last mile again was walk run.
During mile 2 I noticed my shoulders were tight and tensed and I tried to relax more and keep my "eye" on my form. During the last mile I was paying more attention to my form. I made an effort to run properly, so I was moving freely with a bounce in my stride and faster. I could only keep the pace up for about 200m but it was sub 10mm pace. This is encouraging and shows I can run faster and feel better and that I need to work on this!!
In total I did a full 5K and was a few seconds faster on average per mile than Wednesday. Hr was also a few beats lower. So not bad especially as it was hotter today (hotter than I thought) and I think I am fighting the lurgy as I have that clammy throat thing going on!!
So my plans are as follows ... ideally I want to run this weekend at mum's. Next week I want to have managed to run 2m without walking by the end of the week running 3-4m at a time. The week after I want to maintain this but improve form and time. Then the week of the 5k I'm going to look to be running the whole 5k once more.

cant be bad
well done
This is really encouraging Pix. To me this sounds like a quality run for lots of different reasons.
Small Achieveable goals withing the run - concentrating on important things like the *way* you are running
And a really positive tone to the way you talk about it
Like it a lot!
:o)

Go Pix!
And try sitting on a tennis ball and rolling it around on that piriformis.
