So that's that then ...

I am gone, outta there left! I left early did some shopping in town, then a food shop with the plan of getting in a longer run in the afternoon. By the time I got home it was later than I planned and I needed food. This meant that I was not able to get a long run in and a shower before Gnome needed collecting from school!

After last week's fun run Gnome had mentioned he would do another. I found one in Shepshed of just 1m and suggested he "trained" for it. He said he couldn't run with me 'cos I run too far so I decided to find a route of about 1m for him! This meant my walk to school and home took almost 2m (1.88 to be exact - yes I did take the 201!) and so that was my warm up!

I dropped Gnome off home, slurped some squash and went straight out again.

I've been looking in my Fetch log lately and well my mileage has been very low!! The last 2 weeks I had actually managed double figures!! Yesterday I did 4.3m which had been my longest run for about 7-8wks. So my thoughts of taking the opportunity to do a long run of say 10K was probably stupid but it had popped into my head and stayed there!

The 1st mile of my run is probably 50:50 up and down. I thought I would try the run a mile then walk a minute thing. I did mile one in 12:30. Whopps. I had my walk and started again only to find that someone had a fire going. I was breathing hard and images of my TW stress came rushing into my mind. I walked. Somehow despite these 2 walk breaks I managed mile 2 in 12:38. Something was going to give and soon!

Mile 3 shows as over 15mins but I did stop to remove grit from both shoes and not stop my watch. It was now that the legs started to moan and I realised that I had been a tad foolish! 10k is a long way when your previous runs had mainly been under 3m!

I thought I would try 1/2m then walk 1min oh and walk up hills! Which I did and then did 1/2m in about 5:30 ... good job there was a hill to walk up when I stopped!

Then came mile 5. I was shattered and just wanted to be at home in a bath. My head was saying "STUPID! Do a long run like this and you've already walked for almost 2m as a warm up!". I didn't care. I walked a lot (well it was up hill!) and the 10k idea had gone.

Mr garmin said that I picked up in mile 6 but then there was a lot of down hill! You see I turned towards home and when I got the end of my road it ready over 5.5m and well yes head said "just do this loop here and it's 10k" so I did!

Total distance 6.2m in 1hr 25 so very pleased! The weekend will be rest, probably Monday too seeing as it's the 1st day at the new place!! As for now? Chill time!

There are some truely wonderful people out there

just recieved this by mail from a fellow blogger. I want to share it so everyone can benefit as I have. I've wiped my tears away and I've printed this up so when I am getting sulky and down I will read this and remember .... Aim High! (how appropriate is that name!) Don't EVER think that you any any less of a runner than anyone else Kim, You show a dedication and determination that puts many people to shame. You have a goal for your marathon time which is truly amazing - and I am inspired by it..We all have our dream peaks (sorry about the mountain reference again - I'm a mountaineer too!) - and they are a reflection of who we are and what we are able to acheive - for ourselves - and anyone who can't see the value of that endeavour is blind indeed. When you run your next pb - to me that is as phenomenal an achievement as any world record..and I will bounce up and down like a mad thing at the thought of it - and I get pretty animated when I'm excited about somethi...

Remember this?

Yes I'm back on the bench :-( That sore foot thing on Wednesday... well it's still here. In typical bruised fashion it hurts more after a period of sitting down/sleep and I've been popping the brufen. There is a slight swelling too. Don't think it is laces ... on closer inspection the pain is (looks at google ... gives up and picks up "how to run injury free" instead) on the sesamoids area of the err middle phalanger (??? impressed hey!) In the same location where you would get morton's neuroma but the description is wrong so I don't think it's that!! (oh the perils of a little knowledge from a book or the web hey!) Anyways this means I'm on the bench. No running. I have 4 or 5 weeks until the Suicide Sixish so no panic, I will take 1 whole week off regardless and see what happens next weekend. Also think I will get some new shoes with more cushioning. Now all I need to do is locate my bike and/or exercise bike from the depths of the garage un...

Planning Ahead

Right well this is the start of my week's plan! Tomorrow I will do test run on the tready afterwork which means I can easily stop if not right. Thursday I have the Christmas play to watch! Sunday I WILL GET UP EARLY and do a 2hr run! Problem is driving along thinking about where to run isn't a good idea when it's 5:30 rush hour traffic home! I've still not got my route planned. 2hrs will be 9+m I think and I don't really want to hit the main roads, much rather potter about on the back roads and the trail, I just don't know them so don't know which roads are safe to run on! Me finks I may do a detor on the way to work tomorrow!! hehe
