Hitting the hard stuff!

Yesterday afternoon I got to the stage where my head was so painful. The right side of my face felt like it was one big tooth ache and throbing. So I called the doctors (expecting an appointment for Tuesday) and was in the surgery 20 mins later! I'm now on a 5 day course of anti-biotics. Hopefully this will cure the problem and let me get on with my training.

Last night I was in bed by 10 and had only just got to sleep (due to sinuses) when the fireworks went off! Then again I had just got to sleep and people started leaving parties (at 3AM) and wandering the streets shouting Happy New Year. Hubby them got up late for work (new alarm clock and obviously not set correctly!) so I had a nice restfull night!

Today I have done some spring cleaning and cleared some clothes out from my cupboard - the ones that may or may not fit but I won't wear again like dead straight skirts, work is smart casual so don't need them. Oliver is now tidying his room and I'm here!

Also located the gym ball and pumped it up a bit as it had deflated a bit. Dusted it off and left it in the spare room as yet unused! Again! Still at least it is "in my face" rather than the garage so more chance of it getting used!!

For Christmas I got "The complete guide to sports nutrician" by Anita Bean. It's a good read and has a whole chapter on losing fat (as apposed to losing weight!). One thing I did like (having gained 4lb recently) was the fact that she points out the rapid weight gain (e.g. christmas, holidays etc) is not fat! 1lb of glycogen comes along with 3lb of water so I can stop fretting! She also list how to work out your calorie intake accuratly and suggests that you aim for 1lb every week to 10 days after the 1st 1-2 weeks and that you achieve this with no more than 15% reduction in calories. She also gives a exercise plan of 3 days weight training, 1 day rest and 3 days of 20-25 min CV work. I intend to work out my calories as per her workings (I'll give the details here) and see what the outcome is!

Now I need a cuppa tea so laters gaters!

I have an Anita Bean book - must dust itoff! I have to say I was put off by this keeping track of carbs, protein calories etc all separately - I suppose that is why I have stuck (or not!) with WW.
WW are having two new programmes this month - but my first class is not until Monday week, so I will let you know how that turns out.

Must get back to counting - have written down today - first day since before Christmas!!

Good luck, let's get off that stone before FLM!

I know what you mean Beanz .. but I was amazed at how many calories she said to have - I think my minimum is about 2000 whereas I would normally stick to about 1500-1600 to lose weight

Know how you feel about late night revellers there was certainly a lot more broken glass on the pavements on Saturday morning. Fireworks were nice to watch but probably not if you under the weather. Hope the sinuses clear up soon.

There are some truely wonderful people out there

just recieved this by mail from a fellow blogger. I want to share it so everyone can benefit as I have. I've wiped my tears away and I've printed this up so when I am getting sulky and down I will read this and remember .... Aim High! (how appropriate is that name!) Don't EVER think that you any any less of a runner than anyone else Kim, You show a dedication and determination that puts many people to shame. You have a goal for your marathon time which is truly amazing - and I am inspired by it..We all have our dream peaks (sorry about the mountain reference again - I'm a mountaineer too!) - and they are a reflection of who we are and what we are able to acheive - for ourselves - and anyone who can't see the value of that endeavour is blind indeed. When you run your next pb - to me that is as phenomenal an achievement as any world record..and I will bounce up and down like a mad thing at the thought of it - and I get pretty animated when I'm excited about somethi...

Remember this?

Yes I'm back on the bench :-( That sore foot thing on Wednesday... well it's still here. In typical bruised fashion it hurts more after a period of sitting down/sleep and I've been popping the brufen. There is a slight swelling too. Don't think it is laces ... on closer inspection the pain is (looks at google ... gives up and picks up "how to run injury free" instead) on the sesamoids area of the err middle phalanger (??? impressed hey!) In the same location where you would get morton's neuroma but the description is wrong so I don't think it's that!! (oh the perils of a little knowledge from a book or the web hey!) Anyways this means I'm on the bench. No running. I have 4 or 5 weeks until the Suicide Sixish so no panic, I will take 1 whole week off regardless and see what happens next weekend. Also think I will get some new shoes with more cushioning. Now all I need to do is locate my bike and/or exercise bike from the depths of the garage un...

Back to Square One - again

Well it feels like it!! Since my lurgy my running has been going backwards ... work has been really stressfull and the weight has been going nowhere (except my belly) Last night I was out with some of the folks which was nice (the boss paid despite the fact that work may not give him the money - grrr big gripe, shant go there!). Anyway this means I now have a large belly and today I need to start getting serious. Now I know I have said this sooo many times before but I've put on more weight over Christmas, New Year, hubby's birthday and with the lurgy preventing me working any calories off for 4 weeks I'm probably the heaviest I have been post Oliver. I'm uncomfortable and my bra is rubbing when I run meaning I have chaffs all over the place and I feel ashamed. So I MUST lose some weight, even if it is just to get back to below 11st I have to shift something. So sensible head on. Tonight is club run and I hope it will be better than the last 3 post lurgy runs ....
