Speed of sorts!

Sorry about the earlier essay!

This afternoon I decided, as it was cooler, to do my speed work seeing as tomorrow will get hotter again! So as a warm up I jogged to school and walked back at Gnome pace (total 15-20 mins)

Then on the tready for 8 sets of 3R @9Kmph and 2 walk @4kmph. The 9kmph is getting easier - yippee but by set 6 it was less easy! 7 was hard and the final one saw me concerntrating to stay at the front of the tready and not wander of the sides or slow down and fall off the back!

HR was again recovering at the same pace as the weekend and topped at 193 in the last 2 sets which is good!

Also today the postman bought me a NHS letter. A couple of weeks ago I saw the Dr and mentioned about my stress fracture and bone density. She said she wasn't overally worried but would check the referal guidelines and if that was a no and if I was still worried we could get BUPA to do a scan after August when my new year starts budget wise. Today's letter says I have an appointment on Tuesday 5th July @12Pm at Derby General Hospital. I'm assuming that someone cancelled to get an appointment so quickly rather than there being anything to worry about, still it's nice to have my mind cleared as such!

Oh and one other thing. Saturday I got my fitness report back from the college. My hip:waist ration is normal, BP normal, RHR is good (but my actual morning RHR is 5 beats below excellent and what would be expected for an endurance athlete!). It's just my BMI and grip strength (that is suposed to represent overall body strength!?!) that let me down!

Since that time though I have now lost 6lb and I am now my pre-FLM stress eating and pre injury weight. So now for negotiations to begin with the 5lb that have taken up residency since we moved to the midlands, they me seem to think they now have squaters rights but they don't! Once they've gone it's time to battle those stubborn pounds that have been with me for 8 years!!

Still lets hope that with the new Spans Plan and the better eating these will soon be history soon and my speed and running will improve vastly!

Really looking forward to slaughtering some PB's over the next year or so!!

Great stuff Pix :o)

personally I've always found with intervals that even if the first few are easy, the end ones get tougher.

When those get easy it's time to either:

1) increase the speed of the fast bits
2) increase the speed of the recoveries
3) reduce the time of the recoveries

i.e. in all cases make it tougher - if it's easy it's not helping you progress :o)

There are some truely wonderful people out there

just recieved this by mail from a fellow blogger. I want to share it so everyone can benefit as I have. I've wiped my tears away and I've printed this up so when I am getting sulky and down I will read this and remember .... Aim High! (how appropriate is that name!) Don't EVER think that you any any less of a runner than anyone else Kim, You show a dedication and determination that puts many people to shame. You have a goal for your marathon time which is truly amazing - and I am inspired by it..We all have our dream peaks (sorry about the mountain reference again - I'm a mountaineer too!) - and they are a reflection of who we are and what we are able to acheive - for ourselves - and anyone who can't see the value of that endeavour is blind indeed. When you run your next pb - to me that is as phenomenal an achievement as any world record..and I will bounce up and down like a mad thing at the thought of it - and I get pretty animated when I'm excited about somethi...

Remember this?

Yes I'm back on the bench :-( That sore foot thing on Wednesday... well it's still here. In typical bruised fashion it hurts more after a period of sitting down/sleep and I've been popping the brufen. There is a slight swelling too. Don't think it is laces ... on closer inspection the pain is (looks at google ... gives up and picks up "how to run injury free" instead) on the sesamoids area of the err middle phalanger (??? impressed hey!) In the same location where you would get morton's neuroma but the description is wrong so I don't think it's that!! (oh the perils of a little knowledge from a book or the web hey!) Anyways this means I'm on the bench. No running. I have 4 or 5 weeks until the Suicide Sixish so no panic, I will take 1 whole week off regardless and see what happens next weekend. Also think I will get some new shoes with more cushioning. Now all I need to do is locate my bike and/or exercise bike from the depths of the garage un...

Back to Square One - again

Well it feels like it!! Since my lurgy my running has been going backwards ... work has been really stressfull and the weight has been going nowhere (except my belly) Last night I was out with some of the folks which was nice (the boss paid despite the fact that work may not give him the money - grrr big gripe, shant go there!). Anyway this means I now have a large belly and today I need to start getting serious. Now I know I have said this sooo many times before but I've put on more weight over Christmas, New Year, hubby's birthday and with the lurgy preventing me working any calories off for 4 weeks I'm probably the heaviest I have been post Oliver. I'm uncomfortable and my bra is rubbing when I run meaning I have chaffs all over the place and I feel ashamed. So I MUST lose some weight, even if it is just to get back to below 11st I have to shift something. So sensible head on. Tonight is club run and I hope it will be better than the last 3 post lurgy runs ....
