New Week!

Right so wine and in-laws prevented me from completing last weeks training (but I did get 2 swims in so not a complete write off!) so this week will be better!

This week:
Monday - 40mins run (at work)
Tuesday - 30mins run (either work or Tready)
Wednesday - rest
Thursday - speedwork (tready)
Friday - rest
Saturday - Charlie and the Chocolate Factory!
Sunday - 75mins run + swim with Gnome

Today I am going to try something slightly different as I am on the road. After Thursday's run I am interested to see if I have gained speed or if the faster runs were due to the fact that they were short! So I will take splits today! 6 Sets of 5 run 2 walk (with auto 1m split taken off)Will be interesting to see if there is more speed there in which case next week's steady runs on the tready and the speedwork will need to see the pace increased!

Will report back later!

Later that day

Phew that was hot!
Right then lets have a look ... 1stly I forgot my water bottle and 2ndly it was hot and boy did I miss my slurp of water when walking!

Anyway here we go:

So that's a total of 3.6m in a total of 53 mins with an average HR of 172.
My HR recovery was not as good as Thursday but it was hotter today and I was doing 5:2 not 3:2. The heat must have been the main issue though as my HR when I got to the office was still 155 after a good 10 mins of cool down slow walking.

There are some truely wonderful people out there

just recieved this by mail from a fellow blogger. I want to share it so everyone can benefit as I have. I've wiped my tears away and I've printed this up so when I am getting sulky and down I will read this and remember .... Aim High! (how appropriate is that name!) Don't EVER think that you any any less of a runner than anyone else Kim, You show a dedication and determination that puts many people to shame. You have a goal for your marathon time which is truly amazing - and I am inspired by it..We all have our dream peaks (sorry about the mountain reference again - I'm a mountaineer too!) - and they are a reflection of who we are and what we are able to acheive - for ourselves - and anyone who can't see the value of that endeavour is blind indeed. When you run your next pb - to me that is as phenomenal an achievement as any world record..and I will bounce up and down like a mad thing at the thought of it - and I get pretty animated when I'm excited about somethi...

Remember this?

Yes I'm back on the bench :-( That sore foot thing on Wednesday... well it's still here. In typical bruised fashion it hurts more after a period of sitting down/sleep and I've been popping the brufen. There is a slight swelling too. Don't think it is laces ... on closer inspection the pain is (looks at google ... gives up and picks up "how to run injury free" instead) on the sesamoids area of the err middle phalanger (??? impressed hey!) In the same location where you would get morton's neuroma but the description is wrong so I don't think it's that!! (oh the perils of a little knowledge from a book or the web hey!) Anyways this means I'm on the bench. No running. I have 4 or 5 weeks until the Suicide Sixish so no panic, I will take 1 whole week off regardless and see what happens next weekend. Also think I will get some new shoes with more cushioning. Now all I need to do is locate my bike and/or exercise bike from the depths of the garage un...

Munchtime Run

Woke up feeling "coldy" ... tender throat, tired and headache. Decided the headache was due to lack of drink the night before as I was talking to Duck for 90mins! So had some paracetomol and drink and packed my kit! My reasoning being that even if it was a cold it was not "on my chest" so no harm in running and anyway the fresh air would do my head good! Spent most of the morning feeling pants too. Headache has still there despite drink and drugs but I had my kit so off I went.1.2m in and the batteries on my GPS died! This meant it was me and the smog filled roads and my watch. As I alter my route slightly every run (so I don't compare splits!) I didn't really know the distance or pace. I did know that when I got to the Ford garage that the office was just over 1m away and I had about 13mins left when I got there. Problem was that it wasn't much further before my legs said "you are having a laugh!" and I started to flag. As I knew I was having ...
