Brief Review of the Week

Where to start and what to say!
The holiday started of with a scare - Gnome managed to swallow a charm at school :-( still it allowed me to leave work early!
The rest of the weekend was quiet with just a long run on the Sunday which was awful! (Early start again, had 500ml Locozade (and even 2 gels on route) and made no difference. Had to stop after 1m for a long stretch as calves very tight and also my ankle was sore but that must have been muscles as it went after about 2-3m so next plan is to run after I have been up for a couple of hours to allow the legs to warm up and wake up!)
Monday came with a bump - alarm went off at 5AM and we got all packed and feed and watered and mum took us to Reading Station with plenty of time to get the 7:12AM to Waterloo. We sit down and make oursleves (and 5 bags) comfy only to be told at 7:20 that the train was cancelled! Get the 7:21 .... err no that's cancelled too! Get the 7:42! Check in required at Waterloo (at the EuroDisney check in) by 9:09 (30 mins before the train leaves) and we got to Waterloo at 9:05!
Hubby was a tad stressed by now!
But we got there and settled down for the 3hrs on EuroStar to Disney (the train terminates at the park!) As we got closer and closer the kids got more excited and started looking out for the "Disney Tower" which was finally spotted and from that time on there was no calming them down! When you get there Disney take your bags to the hotel and you can hit the park which is just a 3-4mins walk from the train!
From that time until Friday at 6PM (when we got back to the train) we "did Disney!". All 3 of us were in bed to watch the Disney Channel film at 8 and the lights went off when the film ended at 9:15-9:30 and still we needed the alarm to get up for breakfast! Total exhaustion for all of us!
Admittedly part of this was due to hubby and I being ill but I would guess we walked at least 6m each day on average (I was going to take my pedometer to see but forgot!) This exhaustion meant no running :-( but we did manage 2 swims. Well Gnome splashed about and used the slide and I floundered about a bit!
So anyway I'm back home for a break!
Oh and I was welcomed home with a new training plan from Spans - it includes hills!
Gulp!

Welcome back. Any new rides at Disneyland been a couple of years since I was last there.

Little mantra to recite when doing your hills

"Fame doesn't await at the top of the hill, Fortune doesn't wait at the top of the hill, the only thing that waits at the top of the hill is the top of the hill"

There are some truely wonderful people out there

just recieved this by mail from a fellow blogger. I want to share it so everyone can benefit as I have. I've wiped my tears away and I've printed this up so when I am getting sulky and down I will read this and remember .... Aim High! (how appropriate is that name!) Don't EVER think that you any any less of a runner than anyone else Kim, You show a dedication and determination that puts many people to shame. You have a goal for your marathon time which is truly amazing - and I am inspired by it..We all have our dream peaks (sorry about the mountain reference again - I'm a mountaineer too!) - and they are a reflection of who we are and what we are able to acheive - for ourselves - and anyone who can't see the value of that endeavour is blind indeed. When you run your next pb - to me that is as phenomenal an achievement as any world record..and I will bounce up and down like a mad thing at the thought of it - and I get pretty animated when I'm excited about somethi...

Remember this?

Yes I'm back on the bench :-( That sore foot thing on Wednesday... well it's still here. In typical bruised fashion it hurts more after a period of sitting down/sleep and I've been popping the brufen. There is a slight swelling too. Don't think it is laces ... on closer inspection the pain is (looks at google ... gives up and picks up "how to run injury free" instead) on the sesamoids area of the err middle phalanger (??? impressed hey!) In the same location where you would get morton's neuroma but the description is wrong so I don't think it's that!! (oh the perils of a little knowledge from a book or the web hey!) Anyways this means I'm on the bench. No running. I have 4 or 5 weeks until the Suicide Sixish so no panic, I will take 1 whole week off regardless and see what happens next weekend. Also think I will get some new shoes with more cushioning. Now all I need to do is locate my bike and/or exercise bike from the depths of the garage un...

Back to Square One - again

Well it feels like it!! Since my lurgy my running has been going backwards ... work has been really stressfull and the weight has been going nowhere (except my belly) Last night I was out with some of the folks which was nice (the boss paid despite the fact that work may not give him the money - grrr big gripe, shant go there!). Anyway this means I now have a large belly and today I need to start getting serious. Now I know I have said this sooo many times before but I've put on more weight over Christmas, New Year, hubby's birthday and with the lurgy preventing me working any calories off for 4 weeks I'm probably the heaviest I have been post Oliver. I'm uncomfortable and my bra is rubbing when I run meaning I have chaffs all over the place and I feel ashamed. So I MUST lose some weight, even if it is just to get back to below 11st I have to shift something. So sensible head on. Tonight is club run and I hope it will be better than the last 3 post lurgy runs ....
