'Tis Cold!

Well yesterday and today were rest days and tomorrow is long run day and yep 'tis cold damp miserable and trying to snow! I so hope tomorrow is warmer as I don't fancy a freezing cold run but know I have to do it! With BM just 2 weeks away (number arrived yesterday so it's a bit real now!) I need to get the legs used to it!

I am aiming for about 1hr 45mins tomorrow and have a route planned which I think is about 8m so should be about right. Coach Spans has suggested a 10mins run 1 min walk approach to tomorrow's run and 1m run 1 min walk next weekend. Whichever works best will be used at BM!

Yesterday I spent some money on ME!! Hubby didn't get me a Christmas pressie as he thought I could get whatever I wanted. So over the last couple of days I have done that.

The picture and teddy and last year's cushion were so gratefully received and appreciated that I thought I would try a picture for this year! The original plan was to do a picture for Grandma's birthday in March but it will probably end up as a Christmas Present! In which case I will do one picture for Grandma and one for Mum.

So I now have:
  • A Watercolour and Sketching for beginners set
  • A sketch pad
  • A set of pencils/sharpener/rubber
  • A book called Learn to Paint and Draw

The Watercolour set includes some paints and pallet as well as a smaller book and pad (+1 pencil and 2 brushes) and because the tin was dented was cheaper! So this now holds most things in it which is good! In all I've spent about £20 but if it works and I can do a decent picture I may need to buy some more paint. I also have some "watercolour pencils" which are coloured pencils that can be used to create a watercolour effect by either using a wet brush to take colour off the pencil or to colour the paper then "wash" with a damp brush!

I'm hoping that this will have 2 benefits

  1. Nice presents!
  2. Alternative stress relief

The stress relief thing relates to work and my other goal of losing weight (Bear has done really well hasn't he!). I comfort eat at work due to stress, boredom, frustration etc so this way I can hopefully start drawing instead of eating and therefore loss some weight (fingers crossed and all that!)

Long runs in the country provide lots of inspiration. My phone has a camera on it and I have a basic digital camera too.

I'm actually looking forward to this! I enjoyed the Disney pictures I did in October and if the worse comes to the worse I can always draw a Disney picture as mum loves Pooh Bear!! hehe

Anyway time to cook tea and drink wine! Cya!

There are some truely wonderful people out there

just recieved this by mail from a fellow blogger. I want to share it so everyone can benefit as I have. I've wiped my tears away and I've printed this up so when I am getting sulky and down I will read this and remember .... Aim High! (how appropriate is that name!) Don't EVER think that you any any less of a runner than anyone else Kim, You show a dedication and determination that puts many people to shame. You have a goal for your marathon time which is truly amazing - and I am inspired by it..We all have our dream peaks (sorry about the mountain reference again - I'm a mountaineer too!) - and they are a reflection of who we are and what we are able to acheive - for ourselves - and anyone who can't see the value of that endeavour is blind indeed. When you run your next pb - to me that is as phenomenal an achievement as any world record..and I will bounce up and down like a mad thing at the thought of it - and I get pretty animated when I'm excited about somethi...

Remember this?

Yes I'm back on the bench :-( That sore foot thing on Wednesday... well it's still here. In typical bruised fashion it hurts more after a period of sitting down/sleep and I've been popping the brufen. There is a slight swelling too. Don't think it is laces ... on closer inspection the pain is (looks at google ... gives up and picks up "how to run injury free" instead) on the sesamoids area of the err middle phalanger (??? impressed hey!) In the same location where you would get morton's neuroma but the description is wrong so I don't think it's that!! (oh the perils of a little knowledge from a book or the web hey!) Anyways this means I'm on the bench. No running. I have 4 or 5 weeks until the Suicide Sixish so no panic, I will take 1 whole week off regardless and see what happens next weekend. Also think I will get some new shoes with more cushioning. Now all I need to do is locate my bike and/or exercise bike from the depths of the garage un...

Munchtime Run

Woke up feeling "coldy" ... tender throat, tired and headache. Decided the headache was due to lack of drink the night before as I was talking to Duck for 90mins! So had some paracetomol and drink and packed my kit! My reasoning being that even if it was a cold it was not "on my chest" so no harm in running and anyway the fresh air would do my head good! Spent most of the morning feeling pants too. Headache has still there despite drink and drugs but I had my kit so off I went.1.2m in and the batteries on my GPS died! This meant it was me and the smog filled roads and my watch. As I alter my route slightly every run (so I don't compare splits!) I didn't really know the distance or pace. I did know that when I got to the Ford garage that the office was just over 1m away and I had about 13mins left when I got there. Problem was that it wasn't much further before my legs said "you are having a laugh!" and I started to flag. As I knew I was having ...
