That leads to your door .... Will never disappear .... I’ve seen that road before
So said the Beetles all those years ago .... they could so easily have been referring to marathons and not a lady love!
Yes I've been drawn towards the dark side! It's calling my name and however much I try to resist I can't!
See this Pixie has goals and aims like so many of us but like so many I have fallen for the charm, the warmth and the love of that siren that is The London Marathon!
Many have heard her call and been drawn towards her. Many have fallen on the rocky path. Many have answered her call and tried to leave but once again get sucked in and fall victim to her charms!
Like so many I ran London last year and loved every moment of it! (Ok my legs and feet didn’t but you so know what I mean!). Unlike many I didn’t finish and say never again I said “YES! I WILL do this again! I will get a GFA! I will be here again!” and so my future in running was planned! I didn’t enter FLM2006 as I was going the get that GFA. I wasn’t in the least bothered about this!
Sunday I was bothered! I was so jealous and what was worse was the fact that I knew I wasn’t there through choice! I hadn’t even entered so how did I expect to be there?!?!
I still want that GFA but I still have no idea as to if I am even capable of running 1mile let alone 26.2m at 8:25mm pace! I want to try to get to a point when I can at least say “I tried!”
So my plan …
Train for the Trailwalker … lots of walking and swimming and a bit of running if my legs will allow it! (form a good base!)
Lose some weight. (makes life easier!)
Post TW the train for a fast half (BM) in Jan 2007 using a Spans plan.
Enter FLM07 with every expectation of not getting in and being at Mudchute!
Train hard for BM – long runs up to say 2hrs
If I get into FLM then do the same training up to Jan then throw in a few longer runs up to 3hrs max. (TP said 3hrs max)
Run FLM for fun as a training run. (NO honest I will!)
Then target Cardiff 2007 for a stonking run! If I stand any chance of getting a GFA the Leon will be chasing me round to get it! (read that as I will be doing my best to escape his chatter!!)
Obviously things may go amazingly and I may get into FLM and I may do a stonking time there! But back in the real world I have 1.5st to lose, and 3hrs 1.20mins to take off my PB to get my GFA so I’ll hear her call and like the rest of you I’ll follow and enter FLM2007!
just recieved this by mail from a fellow blogger. I want to share it so everyone can benefit as I have. I've wiped my tears away and I've printed this up so when I am getting sulky and down I will read this and remember .... Aim High! (how appropriate is that name!) Don't EVER think that you any any less of a runner than anyone else Kim, You show a dedication and determination that puts many people to shame. You have a goal for your marathon time which is truly amazing - and I am inspired by it..We all have our dream peaks (sorry about the mountain reference again - I'm a mountaineer too!) - and they are a reflection of who we are and what we are able to acheive - for ourselves - and anyone who can't see the value of that endeavour is blind indeed. When you run your next pb - to me that is as phenomenal an achievement as any world record..and I will bounce up and down like a mad thing at the thought of it - and I get pretty animated when I'm excited about somethi...
