The Hills Are Alive ....

With the sound of a complaining Pixie!!

OMG!! Duck is a BITCH!!! Let me explain my weekend.

Saturday I drove down to Dorset with the rain clouds above me all the way! When it stopped raining the traffic jams started! I got there about 2.30 I guess! Then that afternoon we took the dogs out for a walk.

Suzy went to Win Green the highest point in Dorset and showed us Madonna's house (well the roof!) and the grass! Bless her! Lovely terrier who thought it was great to sit on my lap watching out the window! She also took us to Wardour Castle which is where they filmed part of "Robin Hood Prince of Thieves". So very nice!

Scamp, the nutty black lab, then took us round the villiage for a stroll! Between the 2 we did about 2-3hrs walking

Sunday - Bacon and Egg sarnie! Heaven! This was then followed by almost 13hrs of walking! Duck took me up and down loads of hills, across 2 wild life reserves and a couple of roads. At 10m we started up an Ox Drove that took us up and down and up again all the way to the top of Win Green. This took 2.5m! By this time Pixie legs and lungs had declared "we do not do hills!"

We did intend to walk to Wardour Castle but guess what ... yes we got lost!!! But hey the total distance was about 28m maybe more given the GPS lost signal under the trees! We were both very tired by the end of the day! The thought of another 12hrs was mad!! The feet went from tired at 12hrs to OUCH at 12 1/2hrs! I had 2 blisters and my heel was sore but Duck was fine!

Next day we were walking the south coastal path and walked down to Swanage. It was a short 3 maybe 4 hrs of pottering. No GPS no timing and lots of watching the views! We even went paddling in the sea then ate ice-cream!!

A Great Weekend!

There are some truely wonderful people out there

just recieved this by mail from a fellow blogger. I want to share it so everyone can benefit as I have. I've wiped my tears away and I've printed this up so when I am getting sulky and down I will read this and remember .... Aim High! (how appropriate is that name!) Don't EVER think that you any any less of a runner than anyone else Kim, You show a dedication and determination that puts many people to shame. You have a goal for your marathon time which is truly amazing - and I am inspired by it..We all have our dream peaks (sorry about the mountain reference again - I'm a mountaineer too!) - and they are a reflection of who we are and what we are able to acheive - for ourselves - and anyone who can't see the value of that endeavour is blind indeed. When you run your next pb - to me that is as phenomenal an achievement as any world record..and I will bounce up and down like a mad thing at the thought of it - and I get pretty animated when I'm excited about somethi...

Remember this?

Yes I'm back on the bench :-( That sore foot thing on Wednesday... well it's still here. In typical bruised fashion it hurts more after a period of sitting down/sleep and I've been popping the brufen. There is a slight swelling too. Don't think it is laces ... on closer inspection the pain is (looks at google ... gives up and picks up "how to run injury free" instead) on the sesamoids area of the err middle phalanger (??? impressed hey!) In the same location where you would get morton's neuroma but the description is wrong so I don't think it's that!! (oh the perils of a little knowledge from a book or the web hey!) Anyways this means I'm on the bench. No running. I have 4 or 5 weeks until the Suicide Sixish so no panic, I will take 1 whole week off regardless and see what happens next weekend. Also think I will get some new shoes with more cushioning. Now all I need to do is locate my bike and/or exercise bike from the depths of the garage un...

Munchtime Run

Woke up feeling "coldy" ... tender throat, tired and headache. Decided the headache was due to lack of drink the night before as I was talking to Duck for 90mins! So had some paracetomol and drink and packed my kit! My reasoning being that even if it was a cold it was not "on my chest" so no harm in running and anyway the fresh air would do my head good! Spent most of the morning feeling pants too. Headache has still there despite drink and drugs but I had my kit so off I went.1.2m in and the batteries on my GPS died! This meant it was me and the smog filled roads and my watch. As I alter my route slightly every run (so I don't compare splits!) I didn't really know the distance or pace. I did know that when I got to the Ford garage that the office was just over 1m away and I had about 13mins left when I got there. Problem was that it wasn't much further before my legs said "you are having a laugh!" and I started to flag. As I knew I was having ...
