I'm Trying!

Thanks to all those butts kicks (followed by hugs!)!

Following yesterday's awful trot I swam today! My heel was and is still "there" and flares up every now and then (taken brufen tonight) so I didn't want to push it by running again today.

On my way to the pool 2 love struck birdies flew into sight ... 1 flew away. It was awful. I almost went straight home. But no I carried on and got into the pool ... they've turned the temperature down!!

I had my drink with me and I had downed 500ml of squash before leaving work! So no dehydration issues today!

I checked the time as I started as I knew I had to be out by 7 to collect Gnome! Then off I went.

I like goggles and nose clip now ... allows me to swim better and people watch! It's great! Yes I was counting lengths (noticed how much easier that finger watch makes life!) but I was having a great laugh!

Loads of people swim with their legs at 45 degrees to the surface or worse! Now I know I am not perfect but??? Oh and I've noticed the last few swims that the latest trend is to see how low in the water you can swim and for how long! Meaning you have to watch to bottom of the pool as well as in front of you!

There was the lad who thinks he's a fish ... does breast stroke but each down is about 1ft under the water then he does a flappy thing with the legs before he surfaces whilst swimming across the pool not in a line!

There where men who really shouldn't wear speedos! And those who don't but should!! LOL!
The girls who will be the breast stroke Mafia of the future! About 12 and in bikinis that are far too small! As well as Grannies who should cover up more!

Great fun!

Oh and then the best bit .... man walks in. Gets in the pool, arranges sports drink, float, pull buoy and (get this!) a water proof book containing preprinted swimming sessions! Like a swim training manual! He then pulls on his hat and goggles and does 2 lengths, stops checks book and repeats! Nice legs mind!!

Anyway I used my Nuuns again and felt good when I finished, especially as I got a new 1m PB! 47mins! Fetch has predicted 48mins before but only on shorter swims, never actually seen below about 51-52! and that included drink stops and "observing".

I'm going to try a trot/walk thing tomorrow if heel is happy!

There are some truely wonderful people out there

just recieved this by mail from a fellow blogger. I want to share it so everyone can benefit as I have. I've wiped my tears away and I've printed this up so when I am getting sulky and down I will read this and remember .... Aim High! (how appropriate is that name!) Don't EVER think that you any any less of a runner than anyone else Kim, You show a dedication and determination that puts many people to shame. You have a goal for your marathon time which is truly amazing - and I am inspired by it..We all have our dream peaks (sorry about the mountain reference again - I'm a mountaineer too!) - and they are a reflection of who we are and what we are able to acheive - for ourselves - and anyone who can't see the value of that endeavour is blind indeed. When you run your next pb - to me that is as phenomenal an achievement as any world record..and I will bounce up and down like a mad thing at the thought of it - and I get pretty animated when I'm excited about somethi...

Remember this?

Yes I'm back on the bench :-( That sore foot thing on Wednesday... well it's still here. In typical bruised fashion it hurts more after a period of sitting down/sleep and I've been popping the brufen. There is a slight swelling too. Don't think it is laces ... on closer inspection the pain is (looks at google ... gives up and picks up "how to run injury free" instead) on the sesamoids area of the err middle phalanger (??? impressed hey!) In the same location where you would get morton's neuroma but the description is wrong so I don't think it's that!! (oh the perils of a little knowledge from a book or the web hey!) Anyways this means I'm on the bench. No running. I have 4 or 5 weeks until the Suicide Sixish so no panic, I will take 1 whole week off regardless and see what happens next weekend. Also think I will get some new shoes with more cushioning. Now all I need to do is locate my bike and/or exercise bike from the depths of the garage un...

Munchtime Run

Woke up feeling "coldy" ... tender throat, tired and headache. Decided the headache was due to lack of drink the night before as I was talking to Duck for 90mins! So had some paracetomol and drink and packed my kit! My reasoning being that even if it was a cold it was not "on my chest" so no harm in running and anyway the fresh air would do my head good! Spent most of the morning feeling pants too. Headache has still there despite drink and drugs but I had my kit so off I went.1.2m in and the batteries on my GPS died! This meant it was me and the smog filled roads and my watch. As I alter my route slightly every run (so I don't compare splits!) I didn't really know the distance or pace. I did know that when I got to the Ford garage that the office was just over 1m away and I had about 13mins left when I got there. Problem was that it wasn't much further before my legs said "you are having a laugh!" and I started to flag. As I knew I was having ...
