Whopps!

So last week I re-commenced my running in a bid to do a semi decent 5K in Brum. Well it seems that my body is conspiring against me! Or it could just be I need a break!

Still have this cough which rules out running or any exercise as it makes me cough! Not good! So I have to wait until that clears before I can start running again!

I think I will need to re-consider my targets for this event! Lets just run and have fun (like I did at Reading!) and see what happens rather than setting high targets and failing then sulking!

I've also been having great fun with UNIX ... I definatly need to re-install my Linux box and play! Mind you actually having some code to work with makes it easier than thinking "err now what!"

I've also been listening to coach Spans organise her wedding! Yes she's soon to be Mrs Godzilla! I am so pleased for them both! She is thrilled and it's great talking about it all!

Oh and Dr V-Rap has suggested I see a Dr re the possibility of me having asthma to a degree. I mentioned the whooping cough (doubt if that's important) my heavy breathing whenever I run, hyperventilation on high efforts (race ends) and always getting a cough when I get a cold! So I will call them and ask for a "reversibility test" which will help with the decision about whether or not an inhaler would help!!

LOL!
V-Rap has known me for 4yrs and is a GP hence her name appears whenever medical things are mentioned! It's nice to know that you aren't going to see a GP and waste their time!
I had just assumed I get coughs! Never really put the coughs and heavy breathing etc together!

There are some truely wonderful people out there

just recieved this by mail from a fellow blogger. I want to share it so everyone can benefit as I have. I've wiped my tears away and I've printed this up so when I am getting sulky and down I will read this and remember .... Aim High! (how appropriate is that name!) Don't EVER think that you any any less of a runner than anyone else Kim, You show a dedication and determination that puts many people to shame. You have a goal for your marathon time which is truly amazing - and I am inspired by it..We all have our dream peaks (sorry about the mountain reference again - I'm a mountaineer too!) - and they are a reflection of who we are and what we are able to acheive - for ourselves - and anyone who can't see the value of that endeavour is blind indeed. When you run your next pb - to me that is as phenomenal an achievement as any world record..and I will bounce up and down like a mad thing at the thought of it - and I get pretty animated when I'm excited about somethi...

Remember this?

Yes I'm back on the bench :-( That sore foot thing on Wednesday... well it's still here. In typical bruised fashion it hurts more after a period of sitting down/sleep and I've been popping the brufen. There is a slight swelling too. Don't think it is laces ... on closer inspection the pain is (looks at google ... gives up and picks up "how to run injury free" instead) on the sesamoids area of the err middle phalanger (??? impressed hey!) In the same location where you would get morton's neuroma but the description is wrong so I don't think it's that!! (oh the perils of a little knowledge from a book or the web hey!) Anyways this means I'm on the bench. No running. I have 4 or 5 weeks until the Suicide Sixish so no panic, I will take 1 whole week off regardless and see what happens next weekend. Also think I will get some new shoes with more cushioning. Now all I need to do is locate my bike and/or exercise bike from the depths of the garage un...

Munchtime Run

Woke up feeling "coldy" ... tender throat, tired and headache. Decided the headache was due to lack of drink the night before as I was talking to Duck for 90mins! So had some paracetomol and drink and packed my kit! My reasoning being that even if it was a cold it was not "on my chest" so no harm in running and anyway the fresh air would do my head good! Spent most of the morning feeling pants too. Headache has still there despite drink and drugs but I had my kit so off I went.1.2m in and the batteries on my GPS died! This meant it was me and the smog filled roads and my watch. As I alter my route slightly every run (so I don't compare splits!) I didn't really know the distance or pace. I did know that when I got to the Ford garage that the office was just over 1m away and I had about 13mins left when I got there. Problem was that it wasn't much further before my legs said "you are having a laugh!" and I started to flag. As I knew I was having ...
