Back in the land of the living …

Or am I?!?!

I've been tired since my course and tired Pixie people look at food for energy.

It was WW last night and to be honest I was expecting a 2lb weight gain, despite all the exercise I did! In reality the scales said 4lb gain. I was shocked and annoyed. On reflection I did have a late lunch because I ran at lunch which was a lot of soup (2 large mugs) and a further load of drinks as I was thirsty and tired and trying not to eat! So I should have expected it to be higher but it didn't make it easier.

Whilst in London I bought myself some nice new bling chav shoes and yesterday I actually got to use them. I wasn't pushing and did take walk breaks (was with J) and came in at just 8secs off the 3.2m loop PB. The only down side was the shoes now have less shine and I have a hint of blister. It's in the same place as I had the other day so I think it is new shoes rather than wrong shoes related.

Tomorrow I will again run with the boys at work - not sure if it will be the shorter route or the longer one but expect it will be the longer one! Depends how we feel! J may be after a PB (he missed it by 2secs last week!) so I may potter alone!

Then Friday ....! Well the local leisure centre to work is doing an indoor "triathlon" for Children In Need (row, cycle and run) which J, S and I are interested in. It's 1km on the rower followed by 2m on the exercise bike and 1m on the tready with a donation of £3 so why not! Could be a laugh!

Sunday of course is the Suicide! Now from my last 2 runs Fetch has predicted a 10k PB in the making but the Suicide is not PB territory! It's wet, muddy and fun! I did 1hrs 28 in 2004 and would be happy around that time but naturally would like to beat it!

Christmas shopping is almost done as I am able to pop to the local big shopping park at lunchtime so haven't had to take time off this year. This is good as I don't have much holiday having changed jobs but I still have some time! Thing is I don't feel like taking holiday as such as I still enjoy work!! I will take a day off for Gnome's Christmas play though!!

Nike Percepts very silver!!

Benz I was on the toilet during the night - 4 times! (too much info?) had to use imodium for it's proper use (not the "doing long run" use) and was really worried I wouldn't be able to go in today! Can't remember the last time I've worried about having to call in sick! But I did manage to go in! and run at lunch too! So happy!

There are some truely wonderful people out there

just recieved this by mail from a fellow blogger. I want to share it so everyone can benefit as I have. I've wiped my tears away and I've printed this up so when I am getting sulky and down I will read this and remember .... Aim High! (how appropriate is that name!) Don't EVER think that you any any less of a runner than anyone else Kim, You show a dedication and determination that puts many people to shame. You have a goal for your marathon time which is truly amazing - and I am inspired by it..We all have our dream peaks (sorry about the mountain reference again - I'm a mountaineer too!) - and they are a reflection of who we are and what we are able to acheive - for ourselves - and anyone who can't see the value of that endeavour is blind indeed. When you run your next pb - to me that is as phenomenal an achievement as any world record..and I will bounce up and down like a mad thing at the thought of it - and I get pretty animated when I'm excited about somethi...

Remember this?

Yes I'm back on the bench :-( That sore foot thing on Wednesday... well it's still here. In typical bruised fashion it hurts more after a period of sitting down/sleep and I've been popping the brufen. There is a slight swelling too. Don't think it is laces ... on closer inspection the pain is (looks at google ... gives up and picks up "how to run injury free" instead) on the sesamoids area of the err middle phalanger (??? impressed hey!) In the same location where you would get morton's neuroma but the description is wrong so I don't think it's that!! (oh the perils of a little knowledge from a book or the web hey!) Anyways this means I'm on the bench. No running. I have 4 or 5 weeks until the Suicide Sixish so no panic, I will take 1 whole week off regardless and see what happens next weekend. Also think I will get some new shoes with more cushioning. Now all I need to do is locate my bike and/or exercise bike from the depths of the garage un...

Munchtime Run

Woke up feeling "coldy" ... tender throat, tired and headache. Decided the headache was due to lack of drink the night before as I was talking to Duck for 90mins! So had some paracetomol and drink and packed my kit! My reasoning being that even if it was a cold it was not "on my chest" so no harm in running and anyway the fresh air would do my head good! Spent most of the morning feeling pants too. Headache has still there despite drink and drugs but I had my kit so off I went.1.2m in and the batteries on my GPS died! This meant it was me and the smog filled roads and my watch. As I alter my route slightly every run (so I don't compare splits!) I didn't really know the distance or pace. I did know that when I got to the Ford garage that the office was just over 1m away and I had about 13mins left when I got there. Problem was that it wasn't much further before my legs said "you are having a laugh!" and I started to flag. As I knew I was having ...
