No I am not meaning the blog which is of course all about me as it is MY blog! No seriously this is different.
Yesterday afternoon we had a corporate hug and amidst the "we beat/thrashed this target" etc there was a "motivational speaker". There was black shapes on white back ground which eventually formed a word (FLY) and "what can you make of what you see" (I saw the word fly straight away but then how many e-mails go round saying "what can you see!"?) and this lead into a long section on conditioning. I'm sure the whole speaker thing was meant to motivate us in our jobs but I came out thinking:
Who said I can't lose weight? ME!!
Who said I will always be fat? ME!!
Who said I am fat? ME!!
Who said I am a slow runner? ME!!
Who said I can't run fast? ME!!
Who said I'm a plodder? ME!!
Who said I will never be fast? ME!!
…. The list went on.
In fact it's true
… it's only me holding me back!
It's J's last week next week and then I am on my own when running. He's been good in that he's kept me running faster, and I want to keep this going and improve on it. My 1st idea is to look at running with music. So I am looking for an arm-band thing for my shuffle (beams at Fraggle) and head phones. Then I will look at various routes as my main route loses it's 201 signal being tree lined. Then there are different types of runs …short long fast hilly etc.
I can be thin and I can run fast! It's only me who is stopping me and it's only me who says I can't and it's only me who can change things!
>Post Run Edit<
Wow! 'tis very windy out there! And my legs are still tired from Sunday. Still I went out and ran! Only 1 more run with J now and today's run was again just under 12mm pace including walking so I'm pleased. There is lots of room for improvement there! Also I still haven't quiet got my new shoe laces right as I had a slight ache on my foot when I finished (same one that was bad recently) and the blister hasn't healed yet so that hurt too. Since I had my sore tendon the top of my right foot has been more susceptible to this so I will be looking for new methods of lacing shoes. So if anyone has some suggestions do let me know! Still good run and I am pleased with it!

Only you are holding yourself back
but that also means you can change things
it is hard work though

But yes - I agree with the underlying message - you can change things = particularly thigns that are so much to do with you and not anyone else.
Vrap and I were nattering about speed work as we went round on Sunday - and the idea of runnign downhill to get your legs used to moving faster - might be wortha try?
