Pondering Mode!

Well the last few days have brought me good running results (won't mention self-distruct "Hey it's Christmas" mode) with a new 3M PB and 10K PB (in fact I was also in line for a stonking 10M PB on sunday too but miss judged my route and ended up doing just 8.5m!)
So as a result I've been planning - I've even entered a 20m race, my first ever!!
So here is the end of the year:

Mon 13-Dec Rest
Tue 14-Dec Rest
Wed 15-Dec Club approx 5m
Thu 16-Dec Rest
Fri 17-Dec Long 10m
Sat 18-Dec Rest
Sun 19-Dec Rest
Mon 20-Dec Easy 6m
Tue 21-Dec Rest
Wed 22-Dec Club approx 5m
Thu 23-Dec Rest
Fri 24-Dec Long 12m
Sat 25-Dec Rest
Sun 26-Dec Easy 5.5m - round the block at mum's!
Mon 27-Dec Rest
Tue 28-Dec Rest
Wed 29-Dec Club approx 5m
Thu 30-Dec Rest
Fri 31-Dec Long 12-14m

Looks a lot of rest but I've found that running 3 days actually works better than running more frequently. Means I can put in quality tempo sessions at club (which are always faster - currently averaging 10.30mm on a 4-5m course, whereas before I would have struggled to do 1 10mm!). Also gives me plenty of recovery and rest (you listening Benz!) for my long runs.

I have the 4 Villages Half in some 5 weeks and would like to get about 2hrs 20 there (PB is currently 3:59:24!) and then the Bramley 20/10 where I will do the 2 lap 20m race and hope to sneak in under the 4hr cut off!!

The hills round here are very noticable - I live on a hill and all routes from my house involve a hill - so the southern races like Bramley and then the Reading Half should be easy! (Pixie laughs to herself!)

If I take my plan on further I think I do a total of about 2 X 18m runs but just the one 20m as the Reading half gets in the way, but I will be staying at mum's there and will walk/jog to and from the race which will be about 3m each way so again about 20m then.

After London I will take a couple of days off (I took a month off after Abingdon on advice and hated it! I was desperate to get out again!) then I will start training for the Moonwalk in June. It is a marathon but a power walk not a running one. I have 7hrs 43 to beat there from my 2004 time! I may even consider the Abingdon Marathon again in October, or maybe concerntrate on shorter races up to a half. I won't apply to FLM again until I can get a GFA time!

Anyway that's enough planning and pittering - I doubt if it will all work out as good as it looks and sounds just now!

And now off to work - via the school run! Laters gaters!

AH you will be fine - if you have managed to maintain the CV fitness the legs will follow very soon after and you'll be back charging around as normal (unlike plodding pixie!)
As you say though, plans are good as long as you can stick to them! I mean I should be at club tomorrow but I have a horrible feeling that hubby has to be in work early! I hope not! I will do my long run Friday though and next Friday as I will be off and hubby will be asleep!!
Beanz I've entered the Bramley 20/10 which is on 20th Feb (closer than I hoped for!) it's a 2 lap course (I did the 10m 2yrs ago, my 1st ever 10m run and I had a nose bleed at 6m so walked most of the way home! Spans and Fraggle were sent out as a search party for me!!) The good thing about Bramley is that you can change distance up to the closing date of the 7th (it will be full before that though!) and if I need to I can do the 10m and trot home to me mum as she is about 8-9m away.

I'm also trying out energy gels and protein drinks. The High5 drink I had afetr Sunday was OK to drink (choc milkshake) and I hardly noticed any stiffness yesterday and today there is none - could it be they work?? :-D

There are some truely wonderful people out there

just recieved this by mail from a fellow blogger. I want to share it so everyone can benefit as I have. I've wiped my tears away and I've printed this up so when I am getting sulky and down I will read this and remember .... Aim High! (how appropriate is that name!) Don't EVER think that you any any less of a runner than anyone else Kim, You show a dedication and determination that puts many people to shame. You have a goal for your marathon time which is truly amazing - and I am inspired by it..We all have our dream peaks (sorry about the mountain reference again - I'm a mountaineer too!) - and they are a reflection of who we are and what we are able to acheive - for ourselves - and anyone who can't see the value of that endeavour is blind indeed. When you run your next pb - to me that is as phenomenal an achievement as any world record..and I will bounce up and down like a mad thing at the thought of it - and I get pretty animated when I'm excited about somethi...

Remember this?

Yes I'm back on the bench :-( That sore foot thing on Wednesday... well it's still here. In typical bruised fashion it hurts more after a period of sitting down/sleep and I've been popping the brufen. There is a slight swelling too. Don't think it is laces ... on closer inspection the pain is (looks at google ... gives up and picks up "how to run injury free" instead) on the sesamoids area of the err middle phalanger (??? impressed hey!) In the same location where you would get morton's neuroma but the description is wrong so I don't think it's that!! (oh the perils of a little knowledge from a book or the web hey!) Anyways this means I'm on the bench. No running. I have 4 or 5 weeks until the Suicide Sixish so no panic, I will take 1 whole week off regardless and see what happens next weekend. Also think I will get some new shoes with more cushioning. Now all I need to do is locate my bike and/or exercise bike from the depths of the garage un...

Munchtime Run

Woke up feeling "coldy" ... tender throat, tired and headache. Decided the headache was due to lack of drink the night before as I was talking to Duck for 90mins! So had some paracetomol and drink and packed my kit! My reasoning being that even if it was a cold it was not "on my chest" so no harm in running and anyway the fresh air would do my head good! Spent most of the morning feeling pants too. Headache has still there despite drink and drugs but I had my kit so off I went.1.2m in and the batteries on my GPS died! This meant it was me and the smog filled roads and my watch. As I alter my route slightly every run (so I don't compare splits!) I didn't really know the distance or pace. I did know that when I got to the Ford garage that the office was just over 1m away and I had about 13mins left when I got there. Problem was that it wasn't much further before my legs said "you are having a laugh!" and I started to flag. As I knew I was having ...
