The Gaunlet Has been thrown!

Enter stage right .... screwny work mate.
Enter stage left .... not so slender pixie.

Stu has for months been saying he wants to start weight training again but has to date failed.
Pixie has for years wanted to lose weight!

Stu thinks that we should make this a challenge .... me to lose 1st and him to gain 1st. Given he can eat a house and not gain an ounce his gain will be muscle by pumping iron.

So suggestions please on what the bet should be (he suggested money perhaps) and how long to lose that stone!

!!!!

I'd have thought it would be easier for you to lose a stone than him to gain one (if you truly are a stone overweight.

However losing while training for FLM could be difficult - I am hoping to prove it is possible, but I think I have more to lose than you.

But if you give yourself too long, it will be too easy to delay trying until after FLM.

and you don't want to give him too long ...

tricky ...

Exactly! I have between 2-2.5st to lose, at 5ft 1 and 11st 4lb I look rounded shall we say!!
Problem is he is very competative! Also I want to lose before FLM, ideal 1st.
So maybe 1st in 2mths? And money to my charity??
Oh I don't know!
Then how to lose the pounds?! Brian at club keeps on saying drop the carbs ... but head says that is daft and won't allow it. What about WW or Rosemary as she is my charity's patron and they gave me her online stuff free (I did buy the postal pack anyway!)
Arrgggghhh

Did you get the WW stuff I sent?

If you can get your head round the discipline I do think it is a sensible plan for runners.

We could set up a separate blog for us to do this together, without boring everyone else with our problems.

I think you can set up one where we both can post.

Food diary? weeekly weighin?

what do you reckon?

Pix - The basic rule applies - Output must exceed Input. Merely eating less doesn't work as the body slows itself down to compensate, it has to be challenged to keep up the metabolic rate.

As for timescales give yourself until the FLM - Thats just under 12 weeks.

Above all you can do it!

There are some truely wonderful people out there

just recieved this by mail from a fellow blogger. I want to share it so everyone can benefit as I have. I've wiped my tears away and I've printed this up so when I am getting sulky and down I will read this and remember .... Aim High! (how appropriate is that name!) Don't EVER think that you any any less of a runner than anyone else Kim, You show a dedication and determination that puts many people to shame. You have a goal for your marathon time which is truly amazing - and I am inspired by it..We all have our dream peaks (sorry about the mountain reference again - I'm a mountaineer too!) - and they are a reflection of who we are and what we are able to acheive - for ourselves - and anyone who can't see the value of that endeavour is blind indeed. When you run your next pb - to me that is as phenomenal an achievement as any world record..and I will bounce up and down like a mad thing at the thought of it - and I get pretty animated when I'm excited about somethi...

Remember this?

Yes I'm back on the bench :-( That sore foot thing on Wednesday... well it's still here. In typical bruised fashion it hurts more after a period of sitting down/sleep and I've been popping the brufen. There is a slight swelling too. Don't think it is laces ... on closer inspection the pain is (looks at google ... gives up and picks up "how to run injury free" instead) on the sesamoids area of the err middle phalanger (??? impressed hey!) In the same location where you would get morton's neuroma but the description is wrong so I don't think it's that!! (oh the perils of a little knowledge from a book or the web hey!) Anyways this means I'm on the bench. No running. I have 4 or 5 weeks until the Suicide Sixish so no panic, I will take 1 whole week off regardless and see what happens next weekend. Also think I will get some new shoes with more cushioning. Now all I need to do is locate my bike and/or exercise bike from the depths of the garage un...

Munchtime Run

Woke up feeling "coldy" ... tender throat, tired and headache. Decided the headache was due to lack of drink the night before as I was talking to Duck for 90mins! So had some paracetomol and drink and packed my kit! My reasoning being that even if it was a cold it was not "on my chest" so no harm in running and anyway the fresh air would do my head good! Spent most of the morning feeling pants too. Headache has still there despite drink and drugs but I had my kit so off I went.1.2m in and the batteries on my GPS died! This meant it was me and the smog filled roads and my watch. As I alter my route slightly every run (so I don't compare splits!) I didn't really know the distance or pace. I did know that when I got to the Ford garage that the office was just over 1m away and I had about 13mins left when I got there. Problem was that it wasn't much further before my legs said "you are having a laugh!" and I started to flag. As I knew I was having ...
