The End of the week is calling ....

Today is hot and muggy and yuck. I have a serious case of CBA but will do my run today. 40 mins of 5:2 down the canal path at lunchtime.

When I get home it will be pack bags and stick them in the car as the gnome and I are off home to se me mam. Back Sunday night so he is in bed in time for school though so just a flying visit but we haven't seen them since Easter so it will be nice. Will also come home with a boot full of wine and beer from the wine shop! Sorted!

Later that day ...
Well lunchtime run done depite the baking heat. 3.5m of 5:2 with a few mins walking at the end total time 50mins. Which means I did 1 extra set ... doh!

Anyway it was hot and I felt really good for the first mile then slowed down as I had tired legs. The last set had me pondering why I was tired, was it the heat, the diet, coming back from the injury or what. Looking at my watch when I got back my splits per mile were: 11.47, 14.38, 15.56 and the last half mile was 8.32. So could this be a bad case of going out too fast!! I can't believe I did 11:47 when I was walking for 2mins! In one respect this is good as it shows I am improving but then it also shows I have no sense of pacing! I will have to remember to go slower on Sunday's run!

It seems that the south will be in a mini heat wave this weekend so I will have to get up early for my run or suffer!! Now do I take my bottle belt for a 500ml drink or stick to the 250ml runners aid.... I'll be brave! (Spans I hope you are proud of me!) and stick to the small runners aid bottle. Sunday will be 3:2 for 80 mins but will be road work as mum doesn't have a nice footpath nearby!

So signing out now until the end of the weekend - possibly Sunday night, probably Monday

Have a great one folks

Pix - You are showing some great signs of improvement. Converting a CBA into a run is a great achievement in itself.

I'd advise the 500ml bottle better carry the extra 1/2lb than go thirsty on a hot day.

There are some truely wonderful people out there

just recieved this by mail from a fellow blogger. I want to share it so everyone can benefit as I have. I've wiped my tears away and I've printed this up so when I am getting sulky and down I will read this and remember .... Aim High! (how appropriate is that name!) Don't EVER think that you any any less of a runner than anyone else Kim, You show a dedication and determination that puts many people to shame. You have a goal for your marathon time which is truly amazing - and I am inspired by it..We all have our dream peaks (sorry about the mountain reference again - I'm a mountaineer too!) - and they are a reflection of who we are and what we are able to acheive - for ourselves - and anyone who can't see the value of that endeavour is blind indeed. When you run your next pb - to me that is as phenomenal an achievement as any world record..and I will bounce up and down like a mad thing at the thought of it - and I get pretty animated when I'm excited about somethi...

Remember this?

Yes I'm back on the bench :-( That sore foot thing on Wednesday... well it's still here. In typical bruised fashion it hurts more after a period of sitting down/sleep and I've been popping the brufen. There is a slight swelling too. Don't think it is laces ... on closer inspection the pain is (looks at google ... gives up and picks up "how to run injury free" instead) on the sesamoids area of the err middle phalanger (??? impressed hey!) In the same location where you would get morton's neuroma but the description is wrong so I don't think it's that!! (oh the perils of a little knowledge from a book or the web hey!) Anyways this means I'm on the bench. No running. I have 4 or 5 weeks until the Suicide Sixish so no panic, I will take 1 whole week off regardless and see what happens next weekend. Also think I will get some new shoes with more cushioning. Now all I need to do is locate my bike and/or exercise bike from the depths of the garage un...

Back to Square One - again

Well it feels like it!! Since my lurgy my running has been going backwards ... work has been really stressfull and the weight has been going nowhere (except my belly) Last night I was out with some of the folks which was nice (the boss paid despite the fact that work may not give him the money - grrr big gripe, shant go there!). Anyway this means I now have a large belly and today I need to start getting serious. Now I know I have said this sooo many times before but I've put on more weight over Christmas, New Year, hubby's birthday and with the lurgy preventing me working any calories off for 4 weeks I'm probably the heaviest I have been post Oliver. I'm uncomfortable and my bra is rubbing when I run meaning I have chaffs all over the place and I feel ashamed. So I MUST lose some weight, even if it is just to get back to below 11st I have to shift something. So sensible head on. Tonight is club run and I hope it will be better than the last 3 post lurgy runs ....
