:-( Major Upset Pixie

{sniffle}
Today I went for my Bod Pod assesment for the start of my Get Fit For Life course. I had a rough idea of my body fat (31% ish max 34% I guessed) so wasn't too worried. I know I have 2-3st to lose so anything she said wouldn't be a shock.

MAJOR mistake. HUGE understatement.

39.7% fat that's approx 30kg of fat or 66lbs of fat or 4.5st of fat

that's a lot by any stretch of the imagination.

the lady was very nice and said she sees a lot of peeps over 50% fat but it didn't help really.

The Facts:
  • 23-30% <- fat level is acceptable for good health
  • 31-40% fat is excess fat <- indicates an excess accumulation of fat over time!
  • >40% risky/ high body fat

It's a 15wk course after which the exercise will be repeated (includes taking 5 difference measurements too) and she would like to see me drop to near 30%

GOAL:
Drop by 5-10% getting as close to 30% as possible

This is a major shock, upset me actually as I was expecting up to 34% (knowing I am fat!) but 40% near as damn it

not nice

misserable pixie now who MUST do some hard work
I will get my info pack and stuff next week and will try to attend the 3 "lectures" which are exercise (includes the use of a gym ball to improve core posture), nutrician and then finally stress management.

40% - oh help :-(

There are some truely wonderful people out there

just recieved this by mail from a fellow blogger. I want to share it so everyone can benefit as I have. I've wiped my tears away and I've printed this up so when I am getting sulky and down I will read this and remember .... Aim High! (how appropriate is that name!) Don't EVER think that you any any less of a runner than anyone else Kim, You show a dedication and determination that puts many people to shame. You have a goal for your marathon time which is truly amazing - and I am inspired by it..We all have our dream peaks (sorry about the mountain reference again - I'm a mountaineer too!) - and they are a reflection of who we are and what we are able to acheive - for ourselves - and anyone who can't see the value of that endeavour is blind indeed. When you run your next pb - to me that is as phenomenal an achievement as any world record..and I will bounce up and down like a mad thing at the thought of it - and I get pretty animated when I'm excited about somethi...

Yes I'm back on the bench :-( That sore foot thing on Wednesday... well it's still here. In typical bruised fashion it hurts more after a period of sitting down/sleep and I've been popping the brufen. There is a slight swelling too. Don't think it is laces ... on closer inspection the pain is (looks at google ... gives up and picks up "how to run injury free" instead) on the sesamoids area of the err middle phalanger (??? impressed hey!) In the same location where you would get morton's neuroma but the description is wrong so I don't think it's that!! (oh the perils of a little knowledge from a book or the web hey!) Anyways this means I'm on the bench. No running. I have 4 or 5 weeks until the Suicide Sixish so no panic, I will take 1 whole week off regardless and see what happens next weekend. Also think I will get some new shoes with more cushioning. Now all I need to do is locate my bike and/or exercise bike from the depths of the garage un...

Munchtime Run

Woke up feeling "coldy" ... tender throat, tired and headache. Decided the headache was due to lack of drink the night before as I was talking to Duck for 90mins! So had some paracetomol and drink and packed my kit! My reasoning being that even if it was a cold it was not "on my chest" so no harm in running and anyway the fresh air would do my head good! Spent most of the morning feeling pants too. Headache has still there despite drink and drugs but I had my kit so off I went.1.2m in and the batteries on my GPS died! This meant it was me and the smog filled roads and my watch. As I alter my route slightly every run (so I don't compare splits!) I didn't really know the distance or pace. I did know that when I got to the Ford garage that the office was just over 1m away and I had about 13mins left when I got there. Problem was that it wasn't much further before my legs said "you are having a laugh!" and I started to flag. As I knew I was having ...
