Addicted? Me? HELP!!!

Ok so I've already admitted to being a diet junky but I have another confession!
I seem to love buying magazines (and wasting a lot of money too!) yet never seem to read them all!

I have a large pile forming! Then I save them to look back on X or Y article only to never open them again!

I suppose running is like an addition to - Benz is addicted to marathons though which may or may not be such a good thing!

Running is addictive though - you get a high from running even if it's been a rubbish run you almost always feel better having been out!

There always seems to be the "must I?" moment before you drag your butt out of the door ... the obligitory 20 mins of hell at the start of the run ... the awful runs when nothing goes right and then there are "those runs" when everything is heavenly! OK so these are few and far between but they do happen and when they do you realise why you love running!

Anyway my latest magazine purchase is "Health and Fitness" as it has a marathon section in it ... some of the points seemed identical to those seen in this months Runners World magazine too! But it helps me to motivate myself - I think!

Still haven't managed any more night time runs though! MUST get my butt out of the door at 8PM alone, after tea, regardless!

How long until FLM?? 130 Days - Oh help!

agree with Hipps.

And another addiction we share.

Every time I go on the train I buy a mag, quick flick through - leave to read later and they sit in a pile by my bed.

And recipes - loads of them to cut out and not get round to trying!

Have not looked at Health and Fitness - will look out for it next week!

eek - 130 days - and I don't even know if I'm in yet!

Beanz that is exactly what I do! Spot an article or recipe so have to have it! I think I have a rain forest in my spare room!

Re running: before tea - as soon as you get home is an excellent idea. Only snag is if I do that I won't get to see Oliver as he goes to bed at 7.30. I get home at 6.05-6.15 so by the time I get dressed would be out of the door by 6.30 max. Suppose I could do just 30-45 mins... Oliver would have to have tea either alone or with daddy (if alone daddy would have to have a late tea with me (we normally eat at 6.30))

Kim,

Broken link alert on this post! Too many http's.

You need a good couple of hours to digest a full meal before running I would have thought? Everyone says snacking is the way to go!

Dan.

Thanks for the "duff HTML" alert!
I agree with the 2hrs min thing - which means getting out on the road very late which means I am less likely to get out!

so - go out before tea - give Oliver quality time with his dad - and then you have quality time with mrP when oliver is in bed?

(In our house is when a minibeanz does the washing up with whichever grownupbeanz didn't get the tea!!)

I'll have to consider a 30-45 min trot I think - although I was thinking 1hr+ originally
hubby will just have to have tea late or eat with oliver!
Might make me eat less too - mind you I've been mega stressed today (calm now) and eating for England! Strange when really busy I don't eat, when stressing I pig out
but calm now - club run tonight!

There are some truely wonderful people out there

just recieved this by mail from a fellow blogger. I want to share it so everyone can benefit as I have. I've wiped my tears away and I've printed this up so when I am getting sulky and down I will read this and remember .... Aim High! (how appropriate is that name!) Don't EVER think that you any any less of a runner than anyone else Kim, You show a dedication and determination that puts many people to shame. You have a goal for your marathon time which is truly amazing - and I am inspired by it..We all have our dream peaks (sorry about the mountain reference again - I'm a mountaineer too!) - and they are a reflection of who we are and what we are able to acheive - for ourselves - and anyone who can't see the value of that endeavour is blind indeed. When you run your next pb - to me that is as phenomenal an achievement as any world record..and I will bounce up and down like a mad thing at the thought of it - and I get pretty animated when I'm excited about somethi

To Swim or Not To Swim

That's my pondering today! Yesterday I had a bit of a headache and today I woke with the stick slightly sore "cold" like throat. Then when I was at work I felt that coldy icky yucky feeling. I've eaten now and feel better in that the icky feeling has gone but still got the head and the throat. Swimming stuff is in the car as I was planning a 40 mins pool jogging session. Now I don't know. Will see how I feel later on. I want to swim but then I also don't want to make any lurgy that I may be harbouring any worse! We'll see! So did you guess??? Yes of course I went! Well it was just me head and if I was running outside I would have run! Anyway 55mins of which 40 was pool running and then several good lengths of swimming which is starting to feel good and fitness for swimming is improving too! Now I have a stinking headache and can confirm my throat feels like crap! That may have been my last exercise for a few days :-( Other news .. I wasn't going to say

Gulp

I'm strangely nervous about tomorrow. I know it's only 2.5m (x2!) but there will only be a max of 50 runners per leg (only 45 teams last year I think). I'm sure my 12mm pace will be last. I have a lovely casserole (loadsa spuds!) for tea tonight and 2 glasses of wine. I'm now on the non-alcoholic fluids. The lucozade is ready to make and I'm still not sure what to wear! I was going for shorts and vest. Then capri legs and crop top/vest but I'm not sure! If I'm cold/cool I will run faster! But then I don't want to burn up and crash or freeze waiting for the start. If I wear layers will I be too hot .... blah blah blah. Help!! Still not sure what to do "gadget wise". Just watch and guess extra mileage, GPS and stop/start with each warm up, race and cool down, HRM and GPS or just HRM and watch!??!! I'm thinking that I will do leg 1 (1.5m) as a warm up leaving before the race to make sure I am ready. Then stop for some stretches and strides. Th
