Keep the faith!

I got these done when I changed my site - this was my original choice of colour too but I couldn't remember what RGB code they were!

Anyway they both mean about the same

Believe in the magic of your dreams!

The theme of this blog.

My dream is a GFA and with Coach Spans helping me I believe I can do it!

Anyway last night we had some fun with the barbie - like a small fire!! hehe!!

Tonight I have a 50mins run planned.

Tomorrow I have to take the car to the garage which is further away from work than I thought so I'm becoming all pro like!

I'm doing a double! Well 15-20mins 1st thing then 30 mins in the evening as I will run between work and the garage!!

Will report back on tonights run later!

Somewhat later ...

Well I got home, changed and headed out of the door ... the GPS failed after less than 11mins due to dead batteries. I was alone! It felt odd not knowing how I was doing. I've not used my HRM for a while due to a sore itchy rash (heat related!) where the strap goes but today I did use it. Once the GPS failed I looked at my HR and it said 169, I thought that had failed too! I can't be working that low, must be going to slowly. I ploded on. Thinking the pace felt OK and about 12mm (I guessed!) but the HR was still lower than I expected, in fact it only got to the 183 in the last 3-4 mins of the 25mins run eg 35mins + into my run. It felt wrong!

As I approached the last minute or two of this section my guts started to complain. I'm not one to suffer from the trots but I was glad that the leisure center was there! I reached that in 36:41, about 5K from the start and the last minute or two I had slowed down due to feeling a tad uncomfortable!

After that unscheduled 5mins pit stop (sorry too much info!?!) I went straight into the last 2 run sets. The muscle in my right butt check had for some reason stiffened and felt uncomfortable for a minute or so but I carried on. Again no GPS to tell me how I was doing made me feel almost insecure! I had 2 sets of 5:1 and then a few mins cool down walk to finish at BB to collect Gnome. So I wandered around the streets near the school and down a few footpaths. I finished and walked up the hill/High Street to get Gnome. I didn't feel over worked but I was dripping! The pit stop had seen my HR drop down to 130 ish so I wasn't surprised to see it was low (160's) when I stopped.

I got home and checked the map.... 5K to the pit stop but after that I found it hard to trace my steps and think that I did about 0.8m in the last 11 mins (which was about the same as the start before the GPS failed) So all in all not bad.

So no stats apart from average HR - 172!!! OK so yes I stopped but that is amazingly low for me! It was low for such a large amount of my run that I can only conclude that I am getting a lot fitter!!

Tomorrow will be interesting - I've never done 2 sets of exercise before!

There are some truely wonderful people out there

just recieved this by mail from a fellow blogger. I want to share it so everyone can benefit as I have. I've wiped my tears away and I've printed this up so when I am getting sulky and down I will read this and remember .... Aim High! (how appropriate is that name!) Don't EVER think that you any any less of a runner than anyone else Kim, You show a dedication and determination that puts many people to shame. You have a goal for your marathon time which is truly amazing - and I am inspired by it..We all have our dream peaks (sorry about the mountain reference again - I'm a mountaineer too!) - and they are a reflection of who we are and what we are able to acheive - for ourselves - and anyone who can't see the value of that endeavour is blind indeed. When you run your next pb - to me that is as phenomenal an achievement as any world record..and I will bounce up and down like a mad thing at the thought of it - and I get pretty animated when I'm excited about somethi...

To Swim or Not To Swim

That's my pondering today! Yesterday I had a bit of a headache and today I woke with the stick slightly sore "cold" like throat. Then when I was at work I felt that coldy icky yucky feeling. I've eaten now and feel better in that the icky feeling has gone but still got the head and the throat. Swimming stuff is in the car as I was planning a 40 mins pool jogging session. Now I don't know. Will see how I feel later on. I want to swim but then I also don't want to make any lurgy that I may be harbouring any worse! We'll see! So did you guess??? Yes of course I went! Well it was just me head and if I was running outside I would have run! Anyway 55mins of which 40 was pool running and then several good lengths of swimming which is starting to feel good and fitness for swimming is improving too! Now I have a stinking headache and can confirm my throat feels like crap! That may have been my last exercise for a few days :-( Other news .. I wasn't going to say...

Gulp

I'm strangely nervous about tomorrow. I know it's only 2.5m (x2!) but there will only be a max of 50 runners per leg (only 45 teams last year I think). I'm sure my 12mm pace will be last. I have a lovely casserole (loadsa spuds!) for tea tonight and 2 glasses of wine. I'm now on the non-alcoholic fluids. The lucozade is ready to make and I'm still not sure what to wear! I was going for shorts and vest. Then capri legs and crop top/vest but I'm not sure! If I'm cold/cool I will run faster! But then I don't want to burn up and crash or freeze waiting for the start. If I wear layers will I be too hot .... blah blah blah. Help!! Still not sure what to do "gadget wise". Just watch and guess extra mileage, GPS and stop/start with each warm up, race and cool down, HRM and GPS or just HRM and watch!??!! I'm thinking that I will do leg 1 (1.5m) as a warm up leaving before the race to make sure I am ready. Then stop for some stretches and strides. Th...
