Big Blue Monster

Well that's what I feel like when I am in the pool with my jogger on!

Today I am hoping to get to the pool and be ready for 6 when the public swim starts .... quick warm up then 50mins jogging (pyramid style intervals) then a cool down so 1hr in total.

Will report back later!

Later ....
Well Gnome is poorly again so Daddy got to play nurse meaning I still got me swim!

I think I am turning into bear .... muttering under my breathe about "swimmers in full make-up, chattering and swimming sideways or stopping at the end/sides" got a bit annoyed today!!

Anyway 100m warm up and the 55mins of interval training a la pool! Bliddy hard work I must say! I was well exhausted! Glad I had my water too as I got quiet dry in the mouth. Intervals were followed by 150m cool down as the clock said GET OUT! I climbed out and stopped on the stairs to stretch my calves and soon realised I was parch seriously dry in the throat and it was catching in a coughy sort of way. Fortunately I had a couple of mouthfuls of water left.

So home to cook tea and tuck Gnome in bed. Now want a nice hot bath to float in and forget the world!

Oh for Caff ... health update. Well yes it's true I am not 100% but it's all above my neck so I would run (if I was running!) so can't see why I can't swim! Reading is (checks Fetch) 33days away! {gulps loudly and starts to quiver} So I need to stay as fit as possible! Oh and back to see fizzio about heel tomorrow, for some ultra sound (is that what it is??) and hopefully some good news about getting back on me feet soon!

Having established the lay of the pool I will be pool jogging Wednesday too then (assuming he is well!) splashing with Gnome Saturday and long swim Sunday! I'm really enjoying my swimming now!! I'm getting better at it too and that is really rewarding!! {smug grin}

Pix - make sure you drink when in the pool - you tend not to feel dehydrated until it's too late if you see what i mean, so drink regularly.

I heard a new phrase a couple of days ago - "Glamour Swimmers" - for those peeps who insist on keeping their head out of the water so the make-up and hair doesn't get spoilt!

I can't stand swimming. Even less so when annoying people get in the way!

oops that word thing started in wrong place! sorry!

and I meant 'annoying people' as in kids throwing each other, people stopping and starting directly in front of you etc etc etc. Can't stand my local pool. Used to prefer the one at the gym but it was only 18m and they always over-chlorinated it which didn't help my skin in the right arm pit area.

There are some truely wonderful people out there

just recieved this by mail from a fellow blogger. I want to share it so everyone can benefit as I have. I've wiped my tears away and I've printed this up so when I am getting sulky and down I will read this and remember .... Aim High! (how appropriate is that name!) Don't EVER think that you any any less of a runner than anyone else Kim, You show a dedication and determination that puts many people to shame. You have a goal for your marathon time which is truly amazing - and I am inspired by it..We all have our dream peaks (sorry about the mountain reference again - I'm a mountaineer too!) - and they are a reflection of who we are and what we are able to acheive - for ourselves - and anyone who can't see the value of that endeavour is blind indeed. When you run your next pb - to me that is as phenomenal an achievement as any world record..and I will bounce up and down like a mad thing at the thought of it - and I get pretty animated when I'm excited about somethi...

Remember this?

Yes I'm back on the bench :-( That sore foot thing on Wednesday... well it's still here. In typical bruised fashion it hurts more after a period of sitting down/sleep and I've been popping the brufen. There is a slight swelling too. Don't think it is laces ... on closer inspection the pain is (looks at google ... gives up and picks up "how to run injury free" instead) on the sesamoids area of the err middle phalanger (??? impressed hey!) In the same location where you would get morton's neuroma but the description is wrong so I don't think it's that!! (oh the perils of a little knowledge from a book or the web hey!) Anyways this means I'm on the bench. No running. I have 4 or 5 weeks until the Suicide Sixish so no panic, I will take 1 whole week off regardless and see what happens next weekend. Also think I will get some new shoes with more cushioning. Now all I need to do is locate my bike and/or exercise bike from the depths of the garage un...

Munchtime Run

Woke up feeling "coldy" ... tender throat, tired and headache. Decided the headache was due to lack of drink the night before as I was talking to Duck for 90mins! So had some paracetomol and drink and packed my kit! My reasoning being that even if it was a cold it was not "on my chest" so no harm in running and anyway the fresh air would do my head good! Spent most of the morning feeling pants too. Headache has still there despite drink and drugs but I had my kit so off I went.1.2m in and the batteries on my GPS died! This meant it was me and the smog filled roads and my watch. As I alter my route slightly every run (so I don't compare splits!) I didn't really know the distance or pace. I did know that when I got to the Ford garage that the office was just over 1m away and I had about 13mins left when I got there. Problem was that it wasn't much further before my legs said "you are having a laugh!" and I started to flag. As I knew I was having ...
