Blooming FLM

Last night I went off for a swim - not being a good swimmer I did 4 sets of 10 lengths with a breather and drink in between (and a chat to the friendly locals - the folks in the Midlands just chat for no reason!!). Anyway it was hard work!! I "felt" the leg at times too which was a bit worrying, and it was then that got thinking.

I've been running since 4th July 2002 and during that time the only time I have been properly injured or unable to run for an extended length of time has been when I've been FLM training! It's as if my body is saying" dappy bird - you aren't supposed to do marathons!". This just supports my idea of going back to short distances and working on speed once FLM is over.!

You see I WILL do London, even if I have to walk most of it ... I will get that FLM experience. After 17th April 2005 I will rest, recover and get back to doing 10K to half marathon distances but faster. I won't do another marathon until I am faster and that will also include having to lose some of this excess weight.

So here I am just 8 weeks (and a bit) untill London and I'm resting. No running when I'm supposed to be at the height of my training is BAD!

On the bright side - no limping today but I am still aware that my leg is sore. Of course this could just be that I'm thinking about it and "looking" for a niggle ... who knows. As for Sunday .... I still want to run and it is still 3 days away but will I need to be sensible and have another DNS??

Hmm tough one Pix - much as I'd like to see you running on sunday, you might have to listen to the sensible head and pull out.
Maybe do a couple of miles tomorrow or saturday and see how it feels?

(this is of course coming from the womean who never takes her own advice!!)

Yes Fraggle I know! I've just been walking to Sainsbury and wasn't limping in anyway, there was an occasional dull ache. So ... tomorrow I have a half day, will drive half way home, stop at the M&S service station, trot round the car park, buy an M&S sarnie!!, then drive home. Assuming all is OK I may try a trot at mum's
I think I will be running ...prays!

Pix - Only you know if you are truely injured or just worrried but I think you should run as the more you miss the more downhearted you'll become.

Remember the maxim "Its better to have tried and failed then not to have tried at all".

PS get a massage on the legs - Always Aching from the forums is doing them at Bramley.

Robert you are right, I am getting frustrated and down
I can always resort to a poer walk can't I!!
Massage at Bramley .. I forgot that service was available, do you have to book??

That's it Pix, get the Chin up.
I don't think you have to book for a massage. It just says minimum £4 donation to their charity in the race instructions. You can warm the table up for me! :-)

Pix,
have a look at the get you round schedule - it gives realistic times to be on your feet, rathe than distances, I am trying to stick to that.

And post FLM, I am not committing to anything over half disatnce until some more weight is off.

The Next Three Weeks

So I have a few busy weeks ahead that may, or may not, affect what happens here. So this weekend I am running the Chester metric marathon - should do about 3:30 and get a PB by around 30 mins if things go to plan. Next week I am on holiday and have the in-laws visiting which will be nice. Then after then I have 2 weeks of jury service in Derby. I really want to get a case as I am really interested in knowing what actually happens and what it's like in court. But knowing my luck I will have 2 weeks of waiting for nothing. I have Ami's zoom calls to review and take notes on, books to read, coloring/drawing to try my hand at and Loki to watch! After that the exciting news is my part time request has gone through so from 4th December I will be part time. Very exciting. Then hopefully I can start a potential path to being a swimming teacher. Fun days ahead

What Are You??

Apparently I am a geek after spending some time chatting to a first line support person and comparing degrees!! I am also apparently an executive as I earn more than a certain sum of money! This I must point out is executive in the eyes of a Midlands person and not a southern!! I think I am a runner and a mother because I run and have a son! I don't think I have a career and would struggle to define what I really do! Talking of which I may change the address for this site to blog.html or similar because if I do go job hunting I am not sure if my made ramblings should be front page news!! hehe!! I currently work in IT doing support with a hint of customer service at second line. I run and I'm trying to learn to draw! So what or who are you!?!
