Totally and Utterly Fed Up

Plan: Long Run - 90mins 7.5-8m
Actual: 2m - total 27mins

Due to hubby being asleep (working nights) I didn't venture out until 12:30. It was crisp and clear with some pavements still covered in frost. Still cold but good running weather. Dressed in capri legs and long sleeved top with gloves and my standard baseball hat and sweat bands (a must for any of my runs whatever the weather - unless I need to wear my wool hat!) I ventured out happy that although I was cold I was running so would warm up and be fine.

So off I went, the plan being, up to Oakthorpe, back to Measham, down to Snarestone and back round to Measham through the back roads making about 8m. Originally I was going to do this the other was round finishing in Oakthorpe. But for some reason I decided on this route.

Literally 4-5mins into my run having already slipped up a couple of times on the pavement (!) I went to wipe my nose with my hand due to cold weather nose drip. Only it wasn't cold weather nose drip, it was blood.

A quick wipe and I carry on running. No need to stop. Only 5mins later my glove was a delicate shade of orange (yellow gloves!) and I was still ignoring it and running on. After 10mins of drizzles I stopped, turned off watch and GPS and stood for a minute. As I leant forward to check out the red splodges on my shoes my nose dripped. That was it, 1.5m in 19mins and I was so annoyed and upset I almost cried. I walked on for a bit (getting cold as I was dressed for running not walking and already a bit sweaty) fighting tears and holding my nose (please note I didn't have any tissues and by this time my pale blue sweatband was red.)

It seemed to have stopped so on went the GPS and watch and I thought "right I will finish my run" but within 5mins it was bleeding again and after a further minute or two I quit. So 2.2m done today and I feel crap.

I am really annoyed. I had my nose zapped to stop these. In the last 4 weeks I have had 4 bleeds. 2 whilst blowing my nose with my cold (both within 30mins of getting up so hardly due to lots of blowing), 1 at my desk during my lunch at work (just started on it's own) and today. Medical peeps advice, comments, views and help please as this is really getting to me now.

I am Christmas shopping tomorrow so doubt if I will have time or the light for a long run (hubby will be off to work at 7.30pm) which was why I was running today. I may try a tready run tomorrow night if the shopping doesn't exhaust me!

Anyway off to sulk rouns Sainsbury now.

There are some truely wonderful people out there

just recieved this by mail from a fellow blogger. I want to share it so everyone can benefit as I have. I've wiped my tears away and I've printed this up so when I am getting sulky and down I will read this and remember .... Aim High! (how appropriate is that name!) Don't EVER think that you any any less of a runner than anyone else Kim, You show a dedication and determination that puts many people to shame. You have a goal for your marathon time which is truly amazing - and I am inspired by it..We all have our dream peaks (sorry about the mountain reference again - I'm a mountaineer too!) - and they are a reflection of who we are and what we are able to acheive - for ourselves - and anyone who can't see the value of that endeavour is blind indeed. When you run your next pb - to me that is as phenomenal an achievement as any world record..and I will bounce up and down like a mad thing at the thought of it - and I get pretty animated when I'm excited about somethi...

Remember this?

Yes I'm back on the bench :-( That sore foot thing on Wednesday... well it's still here. In typical bruised fashion it hurts more after a period of sitting down/sleep and I've been popping the brufen. There is a slight swelling too. Don't think it is laces ... on closer inspection the pain is (looks at google ... gives up and picks up "how to run injury free" instead) on the sesamoids area of the err middle phalanger (??? impressed hey!) In the same location where you would get morton's neuroma but the description is wrong so I don't think it's that!! (oh the perils of a little knowledge from a book or the web hey!) Anyways this means I'm on the bench. No running. I have 4 or 5 weeks until the Suicide Sixish so no panic, I will take 1 whole week off regardless and see what happens next weekend. Also think I will get some new shoes with more cushioning. Now all I need to do is locate my bike and/or exercise bike from the depths of the garage un...

Back to Square One - again

Well it feels like it!! Since my lurgy my running has been going backwards ... work has been really stressfull and the weight has been going nowhere (except my belly) Last night I was out with some of the folks which was nice (the boss paid despite the fact that work may not give him the money - grrr big gripe, shant go there!). Anyway this means I now have a large belly and today I need to start getting serious. Now I know I have said this sooo many times before but I've put on more weight over Christmas, New Year, hubby's birthday and with the lurgy preventing me working any calories off for 4 weeks I'm probably the heaviest I have been post Oliver. I'm uncomfortable and my bra is rubbing when I run meaning I have chaffs all over the place and I feel ashamed. So I MUST lose some weight, even if it is just to get back to below 11st I have to shift something. So sensible head on. Tonight is club run and I hope it will be better than the last 3 post lurgy runs ....
