The weather has turned wintery and Britain is "gripped with snow and ice" ... so we've had a snow flurry or two!!
I have to admit I did take advantage of the snow to leave work early - well who wouldn't!! As I drove home with the wipers going to keep the screen clear I couldn't help but think "oh snow ... I'll go for a run!" 'cos it looked so lovely! Work in Loughborough is wet and cold with the odd bit of white whereas home is like a Christmas card with about 3" of snow. Sanity did reign though and I stayed in the house!!
One concern was that I did notice that my lower right leg was swollen last night - I hadn't had any ibruprofen since the morning but it didn't feel bad. Tender yes and like my legs felt over all "you ran hard" so I was surprised to notice the swelling. So I slapped on some ibruprofen gel and it went away.
Today I'm again feeling fine - legs still tired. No limping but still a slight tenderness there. Starting to think a visit to the Dr to get a BUPA referal for a physio wouldn't go astray.
Since yesterday I have been looking at this Tough Guy thing - it's tough, very tough, and not designed for short peeps!! Also the entry fee is stagger ... pay now and it is just £37, but A) I don't want to commit now, B) I can't afford that money now (driving home means a lot more petrol!). So I will think about it.
Like Fraggle I will also look to do the Windsor Half in September, if it doesn't clash with the Robin Hood Half which is closer to home (but then if hubby is working I won't be able to do teh Robin Hood anyway!!!!) Post FLM my goals will be speed .... I'll drop the distances and work or getting faster up to half marathon distance. I don't want to spend 4hrs doing marathon training runs for a while! In fact I don't want to do it again! If I do another marathon I MUST be fitter, slimmer and faster.
