As I had already declared that I was not going to run today I was normal instead!
I went to work then drove home and walked to school to collect son, then walked home. We watered plates, cleaned the inside of the car, mowed the lawn, inspected the veggies/plants and went for a walk.
Today was the 1st time that little one was brave .... he was outside with me and then went for a skip and a cycle on the pavements on his own. I was a nervous wreck listening for every car that went by but he was happy! He took time and care crossing the roads so I may let him do this again! We have speed bumps gallore so any cars etc are going 10-20mph max so plenty of time to spot a child (she hopes!) but I still worry. He isn't street wise because in Theale there was no way he could be out the front without someone watching as the cars drove past at 40mph despite the fact it was a cul-de-sac and we were at the end!
I also finished (well 99%) his F14 Tomcat fighter plane model. It just needs neating up and 1 last set of bombs sticking on. See no end to my talents! We then had the "I hate you" conversation at 9PM that came with me saying Bed Time!
As I said we were normal today!! hehe
Anyway this tready ... let me explain my problem.
Hubby works 4 shift patterns, each shift lasts 2 weeks. We have no childcare.
If I have to take little one to school I am 30 mins late for work so take 30 mins lunch (no longer time for a run like there was down south when I always had my hour).
If I have to collect him from school (like this week and next) I have to leave work 3hrs early each day. These hours have to be made up by coming in early and taking no lunch in these two weeks and also making up the remaining 10hrs in the fortnight before - which is normally 30 mins early to start 30 mins lunch). So again no lunchtime run - but I can have a walk (a non sweat inducing walk that is!). Also hubby isn't home untill 10:15 by so no evening run (I can't do club these 2 wks either!)
I can only run in the evening if hubby is there - so when he is on nights and leaves at 7 I can't and as I then need to take son to school no pre-work or lunchtime run!
This means I ended up doing club twice a week when hubby was in and a long run at the weekend (when hubby was in which is 6/8 weeks). This also means races can only be done when hubby is about too!
So a tready would allow me to run/exercise when hubby is out or asleep in the mornings and I have to take son to school or it's raining etc etc. BUT it's a lot of money to spend if I don't use it. I've never been a gym bunny so I can't say I am a regular user of the treadmill, but when I did go I would use it for 30 - 45 mins max.
So the pros are good and all I need to work out is the little question of would I use it! Hubby would do his nut if I didn't!
I could actually have my own mini gym as hubby has some free weights (that I've never known him us in the 14yrs I've known him!) and I have a min stepper and an exercise bike (both of which son likes using every now and then! He also says he would use the tready - he's 7!) I have a gym ball too. But would I use it - this is why I haven't got it yet; I've tried it out but not got it!
My head says that part of the reason why I got injured was that I wasn't running enough and therefore the 2-3 sessions I was doing were too hard for me hence the stress injury. This logically means that more exercise (because I had a tread) would reduce the chance of a repeat injury. I could also run almost every day without really impacting on the family, and therefore base train as such. I also think that given the hard but infrequent sessions and my excess weight I was asking for an injury of some sort and more frequent exercise will help me lose weight.
I sound like I am totally convinced of the answer (especially as hubby has agreed) but there is just that 1 nagging worry there at the back of my mind ......
