Tready Finished!

Yep it's done! And the garage is tidy! The instructions said NO to a garage and I think this is due to dust so I need to finda cover. Also in the summer break I will paint the walls and floor to minismise dust.

Once done I couldn't resist a very quick test - quick as I wasn't wearing any running gear or a sports bra but it was fab! Really excited!

Then I spent 90 mins digging the garden - a patch of flower bed about 3ft by 2ft that was as solid as concrete! Good work out! Then tea - timed to ensure that come time for hubby to go to work I could slip into my running kit, potter about the garden for 30 mins or so and then do my run!

As bear has advised to do my intervals I will - but I may add some additional steady running to make up for not running yesterday (not that making the tready was an easy day!!).

Plan:
5 mins jog warm up the 5x 3mins @10k pace (8km ph ish) with 2 min recovery followed by 5 mins walk cool down.

I also intend to do some toning (situp etc) after.

So off I go ... I will report back later!

Later that night .....

TREADY IS FABTASTIC!!!!

46 mins in total - 4.6km
5 mins walk warm up 5 mins @7.5kmph
2 mins walk
4.5 5x 3min @8.5kmph + 2 mins walk @4.5kmph
finished off walking at 4.5kmph at an increasing incline until I hit 9% for 1 min then dropped back to finish

Totally shattered now!

Last week I did my speed work at 8km and my steady run at 7km. Wednesday's steady run was 7.2km. Not sure if I pushed the speed too much, it was hard work (especially the last one) but I wasn't wanting to chuck up but I know if I hadn't been on the tready I wouldn't have kept the pace up!!!

Tomorrow I have a nice steady slow long run of 75mins at 3:2 again. This will be one long run (no break in between) and on the trail of the Ivanhoe way so no road work and minimal inclines so the leg shouldn't complain!

I'm really enjoying my running right now!

Thanks Spans!! Mwah!

thanks bear!
I really enjoyed it!
If I hadn't had the tready I wouldn't have run today - too busy during the day and I wouldn't have felt safe leaving the house for a run alone (seeing as I am totally alone, not even a gnome to defend me!)
Lets hope it lasts!

There are some truely wonderful people out there

just recieved this by mail from a fellow blogger. I want to share it so everyone can benefit as I have. I've wiped my tears away and I've printed this up so when I am getting sulky and down I will read this and remember .... Aim High! (how appropriate is that name!) Don't EVER think that you any any less of a runner than anyone else Kim, You show a dedication and determination that puts many people to shame. You have a goal for your marathon time which is truly amazing - and I am inspired by it..We all have our dream peaks (sorry about the mountain reference again - I'm a mountaineer too!) - and they are a reflection of who we are and what we are able to acheive - for ourselves - and anyone who can't see the value of that endeavour is blind indeed. When you run your next pb - to me that is as phenomenal an achievement as any world record..and I will bounce up and down like a mad thing at the thought of it - and I get pretty animated when I'm excited about somethi...

Remember this?

Yes I'm back on the bench :-( That sore foot thing on Wednesday... well it's still here. In typical bruised fashion it hurts more after a period of sitting down/sleep and I've been popping the brufen. There is a slight swelling too. Don't think it is laces ... on closer inspection the pain is (looks at google ... gives up and picks up "how to run injury free" instead) on the sesamoids area of the err middle phalanger (??? impressed hey!) In the same location where you would get morton's neuroma but the description is wrong so I don't think it's that!! (oh the perils of a little knowledge from a book or the web hey!) Anyways this means I'm on the bench. No running. I have 4 or 5 weeks until the Suicide Sixish so no panic, I will take 1 whole week off regardless and see what happens next weekend. Also think I will get some new shoes with more cushioning. Now all I need to do is locate my bike and/or exercise bike from the depths of the garage un...

Munchtime Run

Woke up feeling "coldy" ... tender throat, tired and headache. Decided the headache was due to lack of drink the night before as I was talking to Duck for 90mins! So had some paracetomol and drink and packed my kit! My reasoning being that even if it was a cold it was not "on my chest" so no harm in running and anyway the fresh air would do my head good! Spent most of the morning feeling pants too. Headache has still there despite drink and drugs but I had my kit so off I went.1.2m in and the batteries on my GPS died! This meant it was me and the smog filled roads and my watch. As I alter my route slightly every run (so I don't compare splits!) I didn't really know the distance or pace. I did know that when I got to the Ford garage that the office was just over 1m away and I had about 13mins left when I got there. Problem was that it wasn't much further before my legs said "you are having a laugh!" and I started to flag. As I knew I was having ...
